just wondering if Niagara will get here tomorrow do to the storm down south, when do you think we would know?
Was thinking the same thing, I can't imagine they head to Sudbury tonight after their game, but who knows?

Thoughts on the game,

Wolves came into the game missing DeGrazia out with a broken wrist, Walton upper body.

Mauro called up and filled in nicely. Seemed to play with more confidence. However someone did mention on here that didn't think Coughlan deserved to play ahead of him. Sorry I disagree. Coughlan brings jam. Chips on the score sheet and goes into the corners. Also mixes up and gets under the skin of the opponents. An element that was sorely missing all year. You need players like him in your bottom six. Just my two cents...

Big line created some offence tonight. Still thinks they are out of sync at times but they were better. The power play was better when they moved the puck with some pace and it created the one timer for Musty. Now if they can build off that.

Wolves defence were better tonight however still have moments of getting stuck in their own end when they don't move the puck out. When they simplify things its more effective when they hold on to the puck to make a cuter pass they get in trouble.

I liked how the Wolves remained disciplined when Oshawa wanted to goad them. That's how you frustrate the opponent. And you can tell Serpa and Butler were getting frustrated.

The biggest bright spot for me was the calmness of Krawchuck in net. Stopped a breakaway and other key saves at crucial moments that allowed Sudbury to respond and take a bigger lead. It didn't stand out as the game highlights but that's what a goalie needs to do.

Anyway nice to get separation in the standings with Oshawa. One must think though what could of been with the losses we took to Niagara a couple weeks ago and to Missy when we were up by 3 early. Those 4 points would of put us in a tie for 5th spot. If they can take a win tomorrow if there is a game it could make things interesting when they next play the Petes. However from the looks of it the games are a grind. Every game has been intense and it will take a full effort especially now that they are without DeGrazia the remainder of the year it appears.

I was talking to the guy that use to fire the T shirt cannon and he said that the guy that shovels the slush after the zamboni leaves the ice was told by howlers costume designers paper boy that the GM stays.. you heard it here first.
I talked to the same people! HaHa

I went to th game last night and it is very clear. North Bay is a way more disciplined and complete team. They won because they are smarter, have a special teams, HAVE a defence core and good goal tending. Again, like Krawchuck and Brassard, the defence on this team is costing games, Ranger faced the exact same problem. The wolves need defence and a goalie if they want to even come close to making the playoffs next year. I was speaking with a friend and former Knights GM last night about his thots on the Wolves next year and he told me the Wolves are short about 12-15 additional picks to make a contender for 89s 20 yr old year. I agree 100%. He and I agree that any thot of the Wolves making a run next year is ridiculous. Papineau has had 5 yrs to do something and has achieved nothing, and that’s why he is getting fired. I will bet $1 dollar the exact same posts will be on this page next season if these issues aren’t addressed like the house is on fire, because it is. You can’t win a championship with a goal differential of 2 in goals for and against. The only year I can remember that happening was with the Edmonton Oilers when they won their first cup.
Unless the former GM predates the hunters you were either talking to basil mcrae, in town scouting for the CBJ or Rob Simpson who is currently asst gm in London. So what you are saying if they swapped out their worse dozen or so players for better players, or 3 or 4 in each year's age group, they could make a run. Maybe true but also true for every team in the league. Not really an insight.
Saying that, while I believe next year will be better, it is not a championship roster. Not enough high end talent and depth talent is not good enough either. It maybe good enough with some additions for home ice in round one
I will not speculate on paps for two reasons, one we are talking someones livelihood and two we do not know all the facts on the resources or restrictions he may have been operating under.

watching the game online saw Degrazia with a cast on his wrist, so he will be out for a bit.

Was one of their better players tonight. After watching that game I don't see how someone could ever justify Coughlan playing and Mauro not
Extremely small sample size. One can play OHL consistently and the other cannot. Let's see if Mauro can play at the only level for half a dozen games or so.

Did I miss something? What investigation?
I think genupdate made a comment around when sudbury was in Oshawa about toure and the number of fights and facing an automatic suspension

It wasn't pretty, pulled out a win. 4 seconds on clock and they tie it up hard to believe. Niagara played a great game, and like usual Rosenzweig, plays well against the Wolves.

3 soft goals allowed by Krawchuk tonight. I would feel very good if we had a strong goalie going into the playoffs. One can only imagine how far this team could go.

A few bad moments for Krawchuk but he also made numerous spectacular saves. A nail biter no doubt. Glad we came out with the 2 points
Rosenzweig was a beast facing 55 shots

Tonight's win puts us far enough ahead of Kingston that I can rest easy now knowing that there will be playoff hockey in Sudbury this year (barring a massive collapse)
Without looking at the standings, I think we'd match up with the bay at this point?

Guys Krawchuk probably saved our season when Brassard showed he couldn’t handle the load. All I’m saying is Krawchuk is very young and it scares me we don’t have a proven veteran goalie to go into the playoffs. Team found a way to win vs Niagara with 3 softies but it won’t happen when we play North Bay or any top team in the conference.

Wolves in a good position right now only 2 points out of 5th and 5 points back of the Petes for 4th. And Wolves play Petes again. I would say for the Wolves you want the Petes matchup 1st round. Petes are still a stacked team on paper, but the Wolves playing any of Ottawa, NB, or Barrie in the 1st Round is going to be extremely challenging

All 4 will be an uphill battle IMO. Petes yes than the other 3 for sure. You hope to at least get a game or 2 for playoff experience. Wolves havent won in Peterborough for quite a longtime. I'm thinking years.

The Hockey Gods were with us tonight. We won an UGLY game so a little payback for the few games we dominated and lost. I think the Wolves thought it was goal night because D wasn’t a priority. I’d like to see DM get 89 out on DZone draws at critical times as he is our most reliable 200 ft player and never CHEATS. Pharand needs to find his game quickly. Win is a Win. Congrats boys.

Lol calm your horses pal 89 is a work in progress on his 16 yo season. Larmand should have been smarter ? yes Delic and Goyette would have been better options but Dmack seems to think their only job is to score. I miss seing them on the PK especially with DeGrazia being out we could use more speed on the pk. Easy to see Dmack loves grinders… Doesn’t really know what to teach skilled talented players. He just rolls his 4 lines they get PP but nothing more.
