If anyone is allergic to dogs. I recommend a Yorkie, Poodle, or a Maltese. Heck, even a Maltipoo. Hypoallergenic.

I've got 2 Yorkies, though I suspect my girl dog is mixed with a bit of Maltese. No problems with allergies.

Issues would be if you let them roam a lot in the yard, yes they can bring some of the outside in. Nothing a bath or groom can't fix.

My sister has terrible allergies and she does well with a very sassy Mini Goldendoodle.

We had a Westie, a Schnauzer and a Schnoodle growing up and they were also good.

The real issue is when they roll in the grass and then come looking for pets and snuggles.

Has hubby looked into allergy shots or medicine that can help him?
He does take allergy meds when necessary. My parents had Norwegian Elkhounds and it was bad after visits. They shed a lot! He knows I really want a dog and with the stress over the last few years, he has agreed to give it a try. It makes me so happy!

I hope you guys are able to find a dog that doesn't bother his allergies too bad

I grew up with a mini schnauzer. She lived to 16 and had an overall healthy life til the end. Her stomach was finicky and needed prescription food and that was about it.

But for a small dog she was smart and my goodness if she wanted attention, all I can say is thankfully she was well trained because she would've been a troll artist.

Sometimes if I was sitting down on the couch intently watching a Bruins game and she had some energy left... She would just sit there and stare into my soul with her big beady black eyes, and not move a millimeter.
