Hate to be "that guy" but it is THEIR not there ... why would factual based debates ruin this place... ? Marner is staying, it's just a matter of price. 22 mil is coming off the books with JT and Mitch's contract expiring, to add $12.5 mil to the cap , it's not a heavy lift for Tree.

Gotta go with Woll, using Stolarz too much early could burn him out, he;s never been a #1. We either have confidence in Woll or we dont, I think Stolarz should get about 55% to 60% of the games and Woll takes the rest
I think they’ll re-sign him, but if they do it now and he is no good in the playoffs again then it’s over for this core.

There’s no money coming off the books it’s just reallocated to McCabe, Knies, and JT or his replacement.
The cap is expected to go up a little.

LOL so true ... have you seen many people claiming Domi is a far more effective player than Marner recently? No? I wonder why...
The amount of whacky stuff they make up is off the charts.

Funniest all time was Matthews has beef with Marner because he picked Nylander and Rielly before him at the All Star Game

Lately it's diminishing assists as worthless. One actually made up his own points system and then said it's correct because the math checks out.
Wish they would take some of these whacky thoughts to the main board so fans from around the league could get a laugh.

Until you realise all you get is the same socks as usual... just a different colour.
I’m happy with the lesser evil, as my dad used to say “never trust the government”, words to live by my friend……..

Talk about petty, busted by the word police once again. The Marnerites are the one’s who cannot accept the possibility of him not being welcomed back, but that idea doesn’t fit your narrative, he’s not being resigned without taking a serious haircut imo……..

Yeah I hate the stupid argument that we can afford him because Tavares is expired. The question is if we lose first round again what is he worth? It isn't 12 million..not to us. I think a lot of these guys are paid by his agent.

I would not be happy, but your choice is yours alone. Not living in US so this is not my biggest concern. Hope 2025 will be a good year(and not the ones that blow up and catch fire). Lets leave this conversation before we get a HFspanking,

It's not petty, it's like saying hot dog when you mean hamburger, two different words with two entirely different meanings. I get that people confuse them all the time, simply trying to politely help you improve your knowledge of the English language. Growth is a good thing :)

I entirely accept that he may not be here next year, I dont think it is likely though. What you attempted to do is build a false narrative, no need to be disingenuous. Yes if he asks for $15 mil and dig's his heals in, he is 100% gone, if he asks for a small bump in pay, like 10% to 15% bump, I believe he will come in around $12.56 mil, which is fair comparable based on his peers and the increasing % of cap, he will remain with the team.

Do you think the golf pro who claimed they are not here to sell jerseys is willing to take that risk and face the wrath of an already pissed off fanbase? No way they make the same mistake they did with 88, even if an Oracle predicts it on a weekly basis.

My position is, and always has been is this team isn’t winning shit with half the cap (or more) being paid to four forwards, doesn’t matter who those four forwards are………

You have more faith in Leaf management than I do, I think they can outdo themselves in the stupidity department. By the way, welcome back, your opinions have been missed…….

I have dialed it back. No interest in arguing with the Leaf shills and the grammar police. LOL.

It's petty.

I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar for myself. But I would never go out of my way to correct someone else. Especially since we live in Canada where English is a second language for a lot of people.

I know I speak at least three different types of English: broken, improper, and slanglish.

I here you, there are some real beauties in these forums, I don’t mind the their comical takes anywhere near as I hate their echo chamber mantras. God forbid anyone having a opposing opinion…….

I’m dyslexic, but that had nothing to do with the their/there/they’re mistake I made, I simply made a egregious error……..

I dont think he cares what the fan base thinks TBH. I doubt any GM, CEO makes decisions with the thought I'm doing this to make fans happy or I'm doing this so the fans dont get mad.

Which mistakes did they make with 88?

All the more reason to help those that dont know better... since when has low standards for knowledge been a legit excuse for making a mistake? Educate and move on. The goal is to improve 1% every day, right?

LOL, you're making more out of this than you need to.
Naw, that’s just your conscience making you feel foolish and petty, when I’m wrong I know a apology goes along long way to making me feel better…….

Of course they care what the fan base thinks. They blinked and paid Willie too early. He is not worth $11.5mx8 and is now pretty much untradable. I get the Florida tax bullshit but they waited for a 60 goal guy, won a cup and paid him millions less than 88. We are a complete joke when it comes to overpaying players who have proven they cannot get it done. Now we hear the same shit when it comes to Knies after every goal he scores. "Pay him already".

Only on this website can a post-game thread about destroying the Bruins turn into a grammatical discussion where posters share graphics detailing the mechanics of homophones for the sake of mocking someone else over a mistake.
