Top 5 goalies overall the last 5 years (including this one) with at least 90+ GP:

1. Ullmark: .922
2. Shesterkin: .921
3. Sorokin: .919
4. Stolarz: .918
5. Helle: .917

He's always had the talent, it's his health and the fact he's an unknown in the playoffs that are the questions. He could be as big a playoff choker as Andersen for all we know.

Love to see that so far he's as big an addition to the team as some of us thought he would be.

For sure they could. I think they keep them together more so as a defensive duo.
As you saw yesterday that’s an excuse they need to be split up for the betterment of the team no team in the league has d pairs that can keep all three of them in checc if they’re on different lines, there isn’t a team that can stop them

I was thinking the same thing. What does this look like? I assume we keep the JT line together. How do we line-up the other six?

Knies Matthews Robertson
Pacioretty Tavares Nylander
McMann Domi Marner

Lorentz Kampf Holmberg Reaves Jarnkrok Dewar...Minten

I am not sure I have the best top nine configuration there. I think if we keep the three duos together, then maybe we swap McMann and Robertson and I am not sure I like that either. Obviously we have to move out some fourth liners soon.
Keep Knies with Marner or Nylander Matthews doesn’t need him

Not quite, we are worse when missing 1 of them, guess who?

Missing JT 52-21-9
Missing Rielly 46-20-7
Missing Matty 36-19-2
Missing William 46-39 12
Missing Marner 20-17-5

Team record past 8 years 358-189-73

Just more stats pointing to who we need most. lol!
Which one? I see winning records all around

In this case I think you’d need to make a move for a C, Holmberg isn’t good enough. I’d see about getting Dvorak to play with Marner. Shouldn’t cost much and there would be instant chemistry.

This is Berubes biggest challenge is getting that intensity every night.
Where’s domi?

He hasn't had injury issues since 2018. He had two knee surgeries, which seem to have been very successful.

I think last nights game is proof positive that Matthews is the weak link... he's holding us back ... you can't expect Marner to do his elite stuff AND carry Matthews every game ... a god can only do so much.... :sarcasm:

Pretty clear there are 4 humans and one God in that list ... :sarcasm: ...

Hopefully his good health continues for the next couple of years as a Leaf. With all the injury issues and running Campbell's and Samsonovs as playoff starters, this team deserves an elite net presence that almost all successful playoff teams have had.

That is an unexpected list TBH. Helle only being 5th? No Vas, no Soros, no Bob ... crazy

8. Saros
10. Vasi
21. Bob

Gotta remember Bob has had some terrible slumps the last few years and then put it all back together.

What was that crazy graphic they showed last night about Marners all time ppg vs the Bruins?

It’s still a concern. Nylander knows that it takes that willingness to muck it up and not get pushed around yet he didn’t come to his mates aid. I can only conclude that it doesn’t matter enough to him.
You can’t learn that, your either born with it or taught it at a young age, I’m sure papa Nylander taught his boys to avoid anything that could shorten their careers especially if it’s coming to a teammate’s aid……….

What does that look like across three lines?

74 34 89
67 91 88
23 11 16

...this could work. 74 and 89 showed chemistry together with 91 last year and now we put them with 34.

This really does seem like three balanced lines. Which one should the other team focus on?

What does this leave for line four?

Lorentz Dewar Holmberg
Reaves
Minten

Jarnkrok and Kampf as the odd man out. Trade them to recoup an asset or two and free up the ice time and cap space.

Wonder if he did that just becuase it's Marner? Maybe he wants Marner to get filled in? Makes you wonder.
Sadly, I don’t think it’s any dislike for any given teammate, these guys are still not a team and will probably never figure out it’s about the man beside you………

This team always plays so much better when one of Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly is missing, it's crazy.
We don't actually.

Our points percentage when one of Willie or Mitch is out is significantly lower than when they are in. Matthews is roughly the same. Rielly's is higher without, though that has a lot to do with him being around a lot longer than the other three than. If you bring that up to when these guys joined, it's roughly the same.

We are not better, let alone significantly better, with any single one of these four out of the lineup.

But how many 0f those winning records are lower than the team avg of 358-189-73? So the team is below avg when certain players are missing.
Tbh winning percentage wise I think Nylander then Marner are the worst cases

It’s still a concern. Nylander knows that it takes that willingness to muck it up and not get pushed around yet he didn’t come to his mates aid. I can only conclude that it doesn’t matter enough to him.
There’s instances where it’s the other way around as well seems like a team problem not a Nylander problem

Using your numbers:

Missing JT 52-21-9 winning % 1.38
Missing Rielly 46-20-7 winning % 1.36
Missing Matty 36-19-2 winning % 1.30
Missing William 46-39 12 winning % 1.07
Missing Marner 20-17-5 winning % 1.07

Not quite 'worse' with any, but there is a clear difference between missing any of JT, Mo, or Matty, and missing either Willy or Mitch.
If your diving wins by losses the Nylander gets the edge

I was joking that maybe Matthews was the problem, indirectly maybe he was part of the problem, perhaps the team was deferring too much to Matty on the PP, he has the best shot and the goal is to score...soooo perhaps it was a case of being too predictable on the PP?
