This team plays well when their missing one of their big name players.
It's almost as if, once the team knows they will be shorthanded, the mentality changes and everyone knows they will need to step up and the group comes ready to battle and play hard for 60.
Not that surprising with this team anymore. It’s all mental with these guys. If they brought the same work ethic and attitude to every game they’d finally be one of the best teams in the league and have success in the playoffs.

Seems pretty clear to me. I just pointed out that he's useless and tonight was a good representation of being useless if he isn't going to do what he should be doing.
You would've been the first one to call Reaves useless either way if he jumped Zadorov and negated our PP. Dont even matter

I dont even think Reaves has been good this year but Im just laughing that this is the game you all are mad at him when we literally bullied the bruins all game

You guys should have skipped this game and watched what is happening in the after-market because of the US election. Bitcoin madness.

Do something yeah? Isn't he there for that? He also had 30 minutes of hockey do thing just about anything. Take a run at someone... get mad... But sure, he's awesome?

All I see is excuses.

The Reaves is a deterrent thing is well beyond stale - all he does is fight other tough guys who agree to fight him. Everyone else doesn't worry about him since most of the time they are never in the ice together

I can buy he's a good guy to have in the room, but his caphit is starting to challenge/counteract the impact of that.

Regardless good effort by the team as a whole tonight

The leafs literally bullied the Bruins tonight. So much so that their fanbase over there is losing it at how there was no physical pushback by the Bruins at all

This is such a werid thing to pick on Reaves over lmao

I'm not going to be too hard on Reaves especially tonight, but he will have to do something in the fighting department at some point, especially when you consider the Leafs up and down energy levels. That's his job... fight, deter and generate momentum.

I definitely wouldn't have. I would have been frustrated that he negated a PP but it was a necessary thing to do since watching your teammate getting head pounded seems like a big deal to me. And even with that, I expected some sort of shift where he does his job but he never did. So what are we doing here?

I've been vocal pretty much for a whole year about him. Tonight I saw a useless enforcer not do anything despite plenty of opportunity to do so and I pointed it out. If a player plays like shit, win or lose, I'll point it out.

So many good efforts by guys on the defensive side. JT had a couple killer backchecks and they highlighted Robertson's nice positioning in front of the net. There were several others like OEL's great stick, but Stolarz was the difference maker along with the PP.

The team plays significantly different without Matthews. Less deferals from many of the other good players on the team meaning the offence comes from differnt areas of the ice compared to when Matthews is in the lineup. We need him, but I do like how the team plays without him.

I did feel Benoit struggled (again I guess) making plays in the d-zone, McCabe a little too but big pictuyre both were good.

PP just made some simple plays... get the puck to the net!! Who knew?

Would live to see that effort and result for the rest of the home stand!

Very enjoyable watch.

Play like that every night and you'll win most of the time.

Great job by Stolarz. He actually swayed the game.

Marner Nylander and Knies all played well.

The amount of penalties both ways was ridiculous. Refs need to learn to put away the whistles.

Nice that Leafs finally had some success on powerplay though.

Go Leafs Go

Many teams coming up that they can't take lightly. Hopefully they go on a run here.

Marner was excellent tonight.

It makes me wonder if they can split him and Matthews up.

Matthews between McMann and Robertson?
For sure they could. I think they keep them together more so as a defensive duo.

Benoit should be the odd man out when Hakanpaa is activated. Timmins has been getting better and better and tonight he was a stand out. His ability to make clean zone exits is something we need more.

Hard to argue. Hakanpaa is a RD though and I thought Benoit was playing LD. Could move some guys around I guess, I think OEL and McCabe can play both sides (well).

Very interested to see what Hakanpaa brings but I think Benoit can be better than what he has shown.
