Not that I agree with the statement that Sustr and Parayko are a wash, but I also find it funny that Parayko will definitely improve and Sustr will not.

Speaking about any player in absolutes when they aren't 10 years into their career is a little crazy. Scott Gomez was awesome once.

I don't think anybody is saying Sustr won't get better. He's a solid defenseman and still young enough to keep improving. But Parayko is younger, arguably better already, and considered by lots of hockey folks (not just Blues fans) to have #1D upside. Doesn't mean he'll get there, but given today's market you hold onto those guys for all but a massive return.

Kucherov is as young as Parayko and he might be as talented as Tarasenko... And he's also thriving under pressure. This kid is absolutely key to Tampa's playoffs success and he won't be moved for nothing short of an outstanding over-payment. To sum it up, he's not available.

That's fine, there's an entire thread of Blues fans saying they can't afford to pay him much less acquire him.

Kucherov is not only our best forward but the top postseason scorer in the NHL the past two years; if we lose him our Cup window closes. I wouldn't trade him for Parayko if you made the pick a first AND took Sustr out of the deal. Not to mention protecting Parayko would probably cost us Koekkoek which drops the value headed our way even further.

In short the only way we even consider trading him to St. Louis is if Tarasenko is headed back our way.

Wouldn't work for the Blues cap wise anyways. Parayko is young and cost controlled which we need, if we trade him we have to resign Shatty, and Kucherov is about to get paid big time as well. Blues don't have the space

Why would Tampa consider this? Parayko and Sustr are pretty much a wash so we trade Kucherov for a 2nd, that's horrible.

You are learning my son. Read more Edmonton fans proposal threads and you could learn how to undervalue and downgrade opposite team players so you can fit your own team player as same value.

St Louis: Nikita Kucherov (RFA) & Andrej Sustr

Tampa Bay: Colton Parayko & 2nd round pick 2017

Stl: Tarasenko gets a Russian winger to light it up with, downgrade heavily on D but replace Parayko with Sustr

Tb: after Hedman, Stamkos, Killorn, Namestnikov signings struggling to find right deal for kuchy give up 2nd best offensive player and in return receive stud D man to play next to Hedman or Stralsy

Does nothing for Tampa, really. Nothing against Parayko.

I'd need to see Parayko repeat and improve a little on this season to consider him as valuable as Kucherov. Definitely worth considering though

Decent value. On a side note is anyone else worried about these teams over-tampering with their rosters?

No way. Tampa has to add Drouin at least

Nothing against Parayko but at this point I'd definitely not trade Kucherov for him. Kucherov has been our best forward these last 2 seasons and Parayko, even though he was very impressive last year, still only has 1 season under his belt. If Parayko keeps progressing and Drouin and Stamkos prove that they can carry the offense like Kucherov has these past 2 years, then it would make more sense. At this point however I'd much rather just move someone out to sign Kucherov than do this deal.

Wow, I am a die hard Tampa fan from the beginning, but I must admit that this is probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. :shakehead

I suspect this is how Yzerman would see it, too. Parayko looks like he will be very good, possibly a #1 caliber, but Kucherov is much more established and absolutely vital to Tampa's success. With Hedman locked up, Parayko would be a luxury. Kucherov's offense is a necessity right now.

I would hate to part with Parayko under any circumstances, but Kucherov is worth it value-wise. The problem is that the salary cap will eat up most of the benefit to the Blues.

You'd have to re-sign Shattenkirk and be able to pay Kucherov. Somewhere, a good player for the Blues would get squeezed out to be able to afford that. If Parayko continues his trajectory, he's going to be a huge value for the Blues for a few years, even counting his anticipated next contract.

As excited as I am to watch Parayko's development, Kucherov is elite already. The only way I see TB entertaining this is if they feel they won't be able to keep Kucherov, Drouin, Johnson, & Palat long term,, And they feel this is the best possible long term return.

That's a lot of if's. I don't see TB keeping all those guys long term as it's just too much money.

I'd hate to see Parayko leave but Kucherov is worth it.
