It buys two. I thought the Blues would be going for 7 years with this guy, but I guess the money would have probably gone over 6 million had they done that. Schwartz now gets to be a UFA while still under 30, which means he'll probably get another big pay day after this deal.

Not even. Speculation was that he'd get 6 or so at about 6+ years. Not sure how term is even an issue here as it brings him to when he's 29.

Edit: Now I see you meant the other direction. I'm sure most would rather eat more UFA years too.

Right, I would have preferred 7 years, but if the Blues got him under 5.5 that's an incredible steal. He's worth 6 mil easily.
