World Cup: Canada 4 Nations Tournament 2025 Roster Talk

Anything can happen in a short tournament, but Binnington, Montembeault and Hill are solidly below average. I would've dumped any one of them for Thompson.

McDavid and MacKinnon are pretty used to having suspect goaltending behind them though, so they know the drill.
It’s very rich to say you would’ve dumped any of them before Thompson when Thompson had equivalent stats than Hill last year and was not on anyone’s radar until this year. There’s a point where this conversation enters bad faith territory

Who could have seen that coming?

Certainly not @cneely

He was a beast all over the ice, made a great play on that goal.
Canes fan here. Jarvis is criminally under rated and should never have been questioned.

I have no problem with Jarvis. I've watched his career closely as a fellow Winnipeger. He's a fine player. He shouldn't be sniffing Team Canada.
If you really think that than you really haven't watched him that closely

Great hockey overall. Intensity level was high, as everyone should have expected — I don’t know how people thought Crosby, McDavid, etc were going to represent their country with anything less than that.

Marner had a very rough first couple periods, but his passing started to shine a bit in the 3rd. Still not convinced he’s the right fit on that line, but I’ll give it another game.

MacKinnon in overtime was straight garbage. Such selfish play. His line was solid though, highlighted by Sid of course.

I’d like to see Makar activate more and play more aggressive, we have the 2-way forwards to cover for him.

I liked the bottom-6. Defense wasn’t great, and losing Theodore would be a big blow.

Thought Parayko looked out of place. If Theodore is healthy I'd put Sanheim in for Parayko and move Theodore over to the right side.

Did not like Marner's game at all but he redeemed himself in OT. Same goes for Binnington.

Konency needs more discipline in his skating & decision making.

Agree with @ConnorMcMullet that I'd like to see Makar be a bit more aggressive but I think it's obvious a lot of players don't want to force things on this kind of team.

The lack of chemistry was evident throughout with some of the lines. Short tourny with no real warm up games, they should get a bit more cohesive as we go.

Canada was lights out but then :

1) We stopped being aggressive
2) Sweden started playing well.

* Sid was amazing and was the first star.
* MacKinnon was terrific until he started trying to do it all himself in O.T..
* I said Jarvis would be great and he was.
* Marchand was terrific early but faded.
* Marner was hot garbage until late.
* Point was very good.
* Mark Stone was very good.
* Cirelli had a good game.

* McDavid wasn't very good.
* Binnington was average. Hill should play against the U.S.
* Makar looked unsure of himself. Makar wasn't being Makar. Not sure why. This game was meaningless. Why not let it all hang out?
* Not Parayko's finest game but give him time. He's a big boy out there.
* Reinhart did nothing.
* I was disappointed in Morrisey.

Anyone else???
