You're right. I went back to look at the quotes. I was focusing more on Gallagher's expectation that Stepan would play next game. I took Briere's comments in a similar light; him thinking there was gamesmanship was more along the lines of him questioning reports of Stepan being out v. Vigneault saying Stepan was 'unlikely'.

But if Briere was questioning whether it was an actual injury, then it's dumb, I'd agree.

I doubt very much the Rangers would pay any attention to it, as you say. Still, it is unusual, if it is truly MT, and it definitely would be noted by people. Very strange thing to do.
