I’m glad Tony is gone. Fox has been excellent on the Top PP unit and he got it done again last night. He’d easily have double the amount of points if Mika was not struggling so much now.

Bottom pairing is still a mess but could see maybe Hajek or maybe make a trade for a 5/6D like a Hutton type.

They are still trying to trade him.... did you think the press conference would be a Tony bashing show?

at this point his value will be an AHL depth Vet and a 4th round pick. sad but DeAngelo really messed up his trade value but most importantly might have screwed up his own career. DeAngelo needs anger management. he has some serious issues

If we can move his salary without adding something with him it would be a win, but i don't see anyone wanting to bring him into their organization this year.

Absolutely, and wondered WHO exactly was there to see it?
Not trying to nail Georgiev but, seems to me if there was NO ONE to witness, then its ASSUMED Tony started it, BECAUSE he has a "prior record" so to speak?
Who's to say Georgiev didnt say s9mething belligerent, and Tony with his temper.........lost it. Possible, unlikely but possible.

"True to his word, the orginazation's word". Yeah, I get it. Dont want to look like an org. that plays patsy with future bad eggs.
OTH, this is WHY that ultimatum was a lose, lose. If it stayed in house, would have been better asset mgmt. Oh wait, asset mgmt.? What's that? I thought we turned that corner and better than yesteryear. Maybe not.

You guys defending Tony sound like the parents that have to get called to the school 4 times a week for their shitty kids behaviour and try to blame it on the "bad kids he's hanging around with" or that the school is picking on him. Enough, Tony is, was and probably always be an asshole. He made his bed, he can lie in it.

I hope we can finally give Hajek a stretch, preferably with someone who can help him, id hate to see him turn into Graves on us.

I think that is logical. Give him a chance (again) and see what he can do. If he does well, great. If he does not, then no more need to think of him.

I wish I could like this twice lol.

I agree. He’s responsible for his own behavior and did not act professionally. And he has a long history of similar infractions including one this very month during the opening game. I’m really really glad he’s gone.

I will say that I wanted to punch Georgiev when he played that puck away from Tony. It isn't at all unusual for team mates to get into it after something like this happens. Which, of course, leads me to believe that this was the straw that broke the camels back. Quinn has wanted Tony out for a while. Was it because he and others opposed Tony's political views? Or, was it because Tony just couldn't keep his mouth/fingers shut?

While I have never though of Quinn as particularly great coach, I am leaning toward him being the wrong coach for this team.
I doubt this was Quinn’s decision.

Quinn apparently liked Tony. I'm sure he was disappointed in his behavior, and he was very likely part of the conversation with management, but the final call was almost certainly not his.

for one year. Afterwards i see issues.
Hey, a lot can happen in biding that one extra year. Maybe they (JG, DQ & JD) can devise a play to sucker Trouba into punching out Strome. Kill 2 stones with one Strome. I mean, 1 Strome with 2 stones. Aaah shit, u know what i mean.

Lets face it, they made up their minds, and Tony was going to be gone one way or another. I'd BET ANYTHING it was JG that constructed this. DQ doesnt have the moxy, and JD is a straight up kind of guy from Calgary (as he says).
Its JG with those beadie little eyeballs, who doesnt even look straight into the camera for fear of people seeing right through him. Haha.

You're putting too much emphasis on this altercation as being the main driver of him being waived when it's obvious things have been snowballing for a while now and this was just the cherry on top.

I really thought ADA had turned a corner last season but some people just aren't able to leave their ego at the door for the sake of something more important. His one good season (offensively) is nowhere near enough to warrant having to deal with a ticking time bomb day to day. That kind of stuff wears teams down and is distracting from actual hockey stuff.

I think people are overestimating his value as well. Do you I think he'll get a second chance somewhere? Yes, but it's either going to be on a shitty team grasping for straws or a team that has sufficient leadership to keep this guy from being a distraction. I'm leaning towards the former.
There in lies much of the reason WHERE he is now. INSUFFICIENT leadership in the Rangers locker room. I mean, was Hank the ONLY player that he respected, if indeed he did?
There "had/has to be " someone in there that could've/should've set him straight PRIOR TO any official warning.
Playing devil's advocate here.......why didn't someone say; "hey Tony, c'mon man......we need you. Keep a low profile, for the betterment of the team."
Don't ya' think that couldv'e went a long way? It was stated his teammates loved Tony......apparently not enough.
You dont think Chara, Thornton, Sid or Ovie would have set him straight?
Just saying.

He’s not even that talented though. He’s a -19 over his career and only had one good season. He sucks at playing defense which is the most important part of being a d-man.

He had flashes of offensive brilliance but lacks any semblance of a two way game, even when playing his best hockey. I’m sick of these types of players: Poti, Yandle, Shattenkirk, DeAngelo.

They’ve all been terrible.

1) +/- doesn't mean a whole lot. It can be misleading.

2) He was around average defensively, far from awful.

3) Last season was essentially his breakout season after putting up 30 points in 61 games the season prior

4) Quinn put him in the dog house for god knows why

Maybe he had to go, but make no mistake, he definitely was a talented d-man.

Tony had a kid in his grade three class that didnt like him, he's probably the mastermind behind this whole plot to steal Tony's ice time and give it to someone else. This is total bullshit, poor wittle tony.

He is awful defensively...its like he is just learning the position. Quinn put him in the dog house for his inability to control himself, thats why, there's no confusion there at all.

Groton's last-ditch attempt to salvage this kid's career with the Rangers would have been to call his parents. It would be horribly embarrassing to the player, and maybe embarrassing enough to wake him up.

Hard to market gauge but let’s hear some realistic trade proposals

what I do know is that wherever he winds up, there was a fan of that team on main forum harping on his negative value.

And what about the guys who are/were always going after him about non hockey issues?

People keep bringing up political issues. We all know people that have differing political views but are great people. Lots of great conservatives and liberals. Then, we all know there are people that are just immature jerks, regardless of affiliation. I am positive there are liberals that are completely embarrassed by the behavior of others who claim the same affiliation. Why do we need to bring up politics? The guy was a jerk, regardless of which side of the aisle he occupied. He had a history of being an immature and offensive jerk. That is his overall crime: being a bad teammate and person.
