This must be a record for this pool. We started 2 days ago and might finish tonight.

I know I just jinxed it but still.
Don't forget that slow first day. We've really been tearing it up for the last couple days. Great job everyone, but especially Tom who obviously saved a bunch of time by not bothering to look up any of his picks! That really helped.

Looks like I need one more Mercer-nary for my team! I’ll grab Dawson Mercer.

...and for my last pick, well I actually already used this pun in the other pool but it was always meant for this moment, so here goes;

The man that is going to leave the opposition Thrunderstruck, Henry Thrun!

And last but not least, I need someone to boost the team Sprid! Yegor to like this pick.

F - Yegor Spiridonov - RUS

According to my calculations...it appears those in front of me will only be drafting D-men...therefore...

My my official last pick before I make my last pick for Henrikkson (sigh...) I'd like to welcome you to...

...the Arsenio Show!!! Woot Woot Woot Woot! There's pure grit in syuk guy!

Arseni Gritsyuk - F - Russia

And with my final pick, I need a Pon that won't make me look Vasily. I started with a Dach and I'll finish with a mare. I select, Vasily Ponomarev from Team Russia!

Geez....listen boys and girls...make this a lesson for you, don't drink while at work. I know it's the holidays but it can really mess up your drafting especially when you're doing it from your phone...won't happen again ;)

And with that...Simon says...Tom should've had the Knak of doing this right after 8 years in this pool....nailed it

Simon Knak - F - Swisserland

That's officially record time to finish that draft. Great work guys!

I thought it was a pretty deep draft this year as well. Can't believe a guy like Dylan Holloway lasted to the 71st pick. Of course I was freakin' out that I had a chance to take him at 72! Thanks, Khabby!
Other good guys fell pretty far too. I somehow got a top pairing US defender in the 10th round. Just imagine how good it could have been if we didn't have those no-shows, Covid rejections and a weaker than usual crop from some middling teams.

All in all a pretty good draft, and special thanks to Tom for providing a level of entertainment that won't be easy to match! :thumbu:

I actually do like C4G’s team but I don’t think he picks up much with his goaltending unless Alnefelt falters badly. Probably the early favourite.

I definitely rate my team higher than you do, but obviously Levi needs to be the starter. Them cancelling exhibition games probably helps that as he has the lead on the position coming out of camp. It’s possible McMichael doesn’t play as big of a roll as I was hoping on the top line, but he will almost certainly figure in on the top PP unit, so should still do well. I REALLY like my D picks.

I feel like your team starts quite strongly (great USA guys) but fizzles out a bit at the end and you DEFINITELY drew the short straw in goal with Hlavaj. Can’t even pick up any cheap wins in relegation this year.

I’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts about the teams. Let’s keep this train rollin’!

I came into this expecting to be higher on Alnefelt than everyone else because a lot of the stuff I read prior to the draft was people expecting Wallstedt to be the starter. Which given their performances in the SHL might make sense. But I feel like Alnefelt being the returning starter and he was one of the best last year, a small struggle this year shouldn't hurt him too much. Wallstedt is an 18 year old draft eligible so not like he's 17, he's only got the 1 year left after this one.

I personally expect them to split games 2/2 in the preliminary round and go from there. But I'm leaning in Alnefelt's favour.

I actually thought he was 17 but it looks like he just turned 18. He’s a young 18. They don’t have a soft enough schedule to take a chance on an unproven guy, in my books, so I think Wallstedt just gets Austria. Alnefelt was lights out in this tournament last year and now he’s 19.

I think we'll see the regular tumultuous Canada goaltending here, but it won't show itself until they play Finland (not sure what the schedule is), but in any of these pools, it's pretty tight and I just wanted to do rankings for fun.

I knocked myself down because of goaltending, but in the end, I didn't like the top end guys at 3 since the division they are in is absolute death.. I don't trust the Canadian goalies because they're not very good and I missed out on getting Blomqvist for Finland (likely starter vs. weak competition). My hope is Slovakia saves Hlavaj for the winnable games (Swiss & Germany) and I get my 4 points from him.

Everyone has question marks, for my team to be successful, I need to get a lot of points off York on the PP and the States need to overcome their terrible defense with a great goalie and the second best offense in the tournament (Canada). I also need Niederbach to be involved in the scoring that Holtz/Raymond will be doing.
