Man if it was the real Kirby he would've absorbed the other player instead of gotten himself hurt.

Alright, jokes aside, I wish nothing but the best for Dach and hope the injury doesn't sideline him too long.

Since I have some time at Holm, I'll make my replacement pick right now. From Team Sweden, F Simon Holmstrom! He's not scoring massive numbers in the pro ranks but he was a first rounder, and I'm hoping he'll be a valuable contributor to Sweden's medal aspirations.

Sigh, man(Simon) it really sucks to lose your top pick. I had Dach in my Holm draft. When that happens it’s going to take strom big games from your other players.

Wanna know how my day is going?

Slovakia doesn't play Hlavaj for an easy shut-out..
and my opponent in fantasy football finals has Alvin Kamara.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! We are officially under way with the first three results in. Interestingly, those three games gave us just one goaltender win as the netminding situation in this tournament has become utterly unpredictable. That win by Askarov is part of a strong start for Khabby's team which also picks up a multi-point game from the minute-eating Tim Stuetzle. WeThreeKings sits a point back with a 3G, 3A day with a couple of D-men getting the offense going early. Three goals by a pair of Russian snipers has GrandLarseny in third while Tomsburninghat had a decent day with three assists and no positive Covid tests. The rest of the field is off to a slow start with a single point apiece, though the majority of players have yet to even see the ice. Look for things to heat up tomorrow as Sweden, the Czech Republic and Canada all take the ice for the first time, with the latter coming against what must be an exhausted German side.

Damn, there’s gonna be some crooked numbers today, boys!

I have to go to work tonight so definitely won’t be an update until tomorrow.

I feel like I've already got to write my team off lol. Didn't think Gauthier would be the third stringer, which sucks since it was between him and Piiroinen for me. I certainly didn't expect Kubicek to straight up not play since he had 3 points last year, but here I am. Time to aim for "not-last" place haha.

You really shouldn't have wished for the first overall lottery win on a cursed monkey’s paw.

I'm working right now and watching hockey and updating the pools. I love it :towel:

Except the part where I picked Schneider and he gets kicked out while Byram someone only gets 1 point when they scored 16

Sooooo... Day 2 of this tournament was kinda crazy, huh? We saw three absolute thrashings of varying magnitude with Canada putting a particularly heavy hurting on a shortbenched German squad. If you had any Canadians, Americans and to a lesser extent Swedish players, you probably cleaned up last night. If you didn't, you're probably wondering what the hell happened.

What a day for yours truly! Statsy piled up an incredible 17 points yesterday. I'm not sure if that's a pool record (I'll go back and check at some point) but if not it must be close. No less than four players with at least 3 points and a goalie win to boot. He's the leader on the second day by a point over Tomsburninghat who had a similarly explosive day. Tom had two Swedes and a couple of Canadians doing the damage, including Dylan Cozens with an impressive six point outing. WeThreeKings sits at 16 as he collected the only other double digit point total of Day 2 with 10. His American contingent led by Trevor Zegras has carried the load for him so far. GrandLarseny and Khabby find themselves tied with 12 points apiece and another good battle wages behind them between Canada4Gold and FightingSioux with 9. Christien finds himself in an early hole as his three Canadians don't get much done and his Russians were not in action. There are another three games on the schedule today including Canada looking to tee off on another opponent. (Edit: Christien and C4G each with a point added upon scoring review)

Today's numbers:
Statsy - 17 pts
Tomsburninghat - 14 pts
WeThreeKings - 10 pts
Canada4Gold - 9 pts
GrandLarseny - 8 pts
FightingSioux - 8 pts
Christien - 6 pts
Khabby - 5 pts

PS - I'm not at all confident about all these stats being correct. There were too many goals yesterday and likely some scoring changes. I did catch a late change in the Sweden game but the numbers from the Canadian game came pretty shortly after. The American count came from this morning and should be correct though I may have just missed something. Let me know if you see any errors.

Watching Lundell of Finland...he's going to be a good one. I actually think he's got the type of game that will do well as a pro. I think he's got more to offer than Kaapo Kakko and even perhaps Laine in the long run.

I love Lundell's game too, he was way more impressive to me than Kupari and Heponiemi back at the 2019 WJCs and he's only gotten better. I was going to take him with my second pick if he made it there. Florida's got themselves a good one, and having Barkov mentor him ain't a bad thing either.

I absolutely love Lundell. I was very upset when he got taken 3 picks ahead of the Leafs selection in the NHL draft(but it was expected). I had him ranked 5th or 6th in the NHl draft and somewhere close to that here. Great player.

Lundell will be a great middle 6 C (between lines 2 and 3), don't think he has a lot of offense to his game, but he's not bad offensively either.. a very pro game who will support his wingers very very well. Think of a super-charged Danault.

Any projections on the Canada/Slovakia game? I am getting in the NFL bets today and lost an important bet using Cleveland as my key team...I'm wondering how many goals scored in total do you think for the game (both teams combined).

I feel like Lundell will have little more to his game than Danault. I was thinking Couturier. He'll need a Giroux/Voracek to help but I think he could get to that level. Keeping in mind it took Couturier a long time to get there as well.
