All caught up.
The Defence doesn't concern me as much with the type and quantity of scoring we have available. Lowry and Stastny can handle defensive roles that will help immensely. PK is in good hands with 4 strong centres and speedy aggressive wingers.
If our goalies better than your goalie see you at Portage and Main

Late to the party, and haven't read all the posts but an outstanding trade by Chevy. Absolutely love that we are all in. After 2 seasons of tank threads and people hoping for loses to improve draft position this feels great. We have a young core of budding stars meshing with a still effective older core that seems to come together this season out of no where. While a 1st has considerable value, a cup run trumps all. We are 1 of the 3 top teams in the West and a true contender. Time to wrestle first from Nashville and take the playoffs by storm.
But but but didn't Chevy mismanage the window? ;)

Second that.

For the record, every year there are teams that swing for the fences like we did, and majority strike out. I like the deal and can live with results. We increased our odds of winning a cup, just soak that in, we had good odds to begin with, and Chevy just improved them.
We took a cut for a home run however if it just gets to the warning track nothing really has been affected for the next couple of years.

On a good day Stasny can be considered a top line center, so a top line center for a 1st round pick is well worth it.

If this is the paul stasny we are getting for the playoffs and beyond, then the jets have made an excellent trade.

Didn’t bother watching TSN during the day today... now kind of wondering what the panel’s reaction to the trade was when it was first reported.

Genuine shock and admiration. No one on any of the myriad panels had any idea that Stastny was available, and it was well after they interviewed him that Mike Johnson finally confirmed on-air that he had to waive to come here (which we all knew here, of course).

By 5:00 they were trying--and, in one case, failing--to talk themselves out of calling the Jets the best team in the league.

Really it affects Hendricks...and he knows he's been playing on house money his entire NHL career, so I'm thinking he's good with it.

If Hendricks is even half the glue guy he's purported to be, this will not be an issue at all.

Wow! Steep price for a rental albeit will slot in nicely with Ehlers and Laine for this years run:) Can't see him being extended. Eric Foley probably was going to go FA due to our depth though I have to presume?
Steep Price? You’re kidding right?

Do we have the best 1-2-3-4 down the middle in the West? Couple close teams, but overall taking into account all 4 C's. Basicly Little or Statsny will be the best 3C's in the west.

One of the biggest concerns with over trading is messing with the chemistry on the team. I like what we have and getting Stastny shouldn't change that.
Being a long time friend of Wheeler and the way Wheeler gushed about him should alleviate any concerns about Statsny fitting in.

Woooow! Very exciting. I hope the Jets can handle the pressure come playoff time, now that they are looking like some favorites to go deep!

I was thinking about giving up the 1st, I think those 1st round picks were a big deal for the early years of the Jets, but now that they have their great young core trading for guys to compliment them is the most important thing.

That's a crazy and very generous offer, given all that Wheeler has done to help bring the Jets to where they are in Winnipeg .

Hah! Or that. ;)
Wheeler has turned out to be an outstanding captain. I remember being on the Scheifele side on the who should be captain vote. I would take my vote back in a heart beat. While Scheif is still my favorite player, Wheeler was the better choice for captain. After I heard Wheeler's involvement last night and the things he said about Statsny I was even more pumped about the trade.

Well this doesn't surprise me but it does please me. Big game hunting? yes, Couldn't afford that? No. Lemieux out? No. Tough to let Foley go but you have give to get.
I mentioned we knew Chevy liked Stastny and Lemieux, this trade confirms. This is a great add for the team and players. Players get a vet that slides in and can produce in several areas and does not disrupt the chemistry.
Oh yeah, what did Chevy do today? ;) a hell of a effing lot !
Lemieux?

It was the Parise / Suter FA pursuit we were told that. People should trust what Chevy does. I mean that both in the general way as so many didn't up till now ( hopefully ) but also his past actions. I'm talking about about Stastny & Lemieux. Bag of pucks ... lol ... ridiculous.
Lemieux?

All depends if he can get some chemistry going between Ehlers and Laine. Stastny is a good player but so is Little. We may have to split them up yet.

But that said, we just upgraded Matt Hendricks to a bona fide 2nd line center I will allow myself to be happy! Two way player that can PK and take faceoffs.. Nice.
the difference is that when ehlers and laine played with little they played against top 6 players and top 4 dmen now they will play against bottom 6 forward and 3rd pairing guys. lowry will still play against other teams top lines a lot allowing stasny ehlers laine to carve of bottom 6 players and 3rd pairing dmem.

Woo is out again from concussion symptoms. 3rd time this season. He's dropping like a rock in the rankings. Good chance we may have a shot at him in the 2nd round.

If we end up nabbing him that would make this day even better.

I think those people thinking the Jets can re-sign Stastny are fooling themselves. Things were already tight, there;s no way the Jets can afford 5 million + for a 3rd line centre for the long run.
