My day today was an example of why this games been so addicting so far even though I didn't have much time to play.

Wanting to progress a mission but getting ambushed in space, and even with the Razorleaf I cannot beat the guys attacking me without leveling up my piloting so I could fly a better ship, which was very frustrating. So I ran away to do other main mission stuff, but had to jump a few star systems to get where I was going, and jumped to a planet with an outpost icon I've never seen. Turns out it was a rehab center for criminals under construction in the far reaches of space and now I'm doing a quest there instead.

LOL @ Sam Coe's daughter looking exactly like all the other female children in the game (ie, mixed) when her mom is whiter than Sam. Doesn't take away from the game but there is weird stuff like that everywhere. Could just be laziness.

This is actually perfectly possible but I do agree it’s kindve funny to see. Attempted to watch the live action little mermaid last night and I was dying when all the sisters kept saying “our mother” when they’re every shade of skin color under the sun. Nah Ariel, your father was f***ing around.

The bullet sponge enemies are so annoying. Rather than just let me kill them as I level up, the game just seems to be throwing stronger weapons at me? So I'm constantly cycling weapons.

Lockpicks and medpacks are the most scarce resources in the galaxy too apparently.

After about 24 hours, I might just opt to put this game on ice for a year or two before getting back into it. Patches and mods will do it some good.
Go to One of a Kind on Niira in the Narion system. They generally have 6-10 to sell. Also as others have said, you can wait 48 hours in a chair and buy again. Medpacks I’ve rarely had an issue with but yeah just buy them at every shop and you’ll be good. Also might need to increase your damage reduction/med pack effectiveness if this is consistently a trouble spot for you.

Well Little Mermaid is a fairy tale. They might as well have blue or green skin. Realism checks out after the word "fairy tale".

There are no rules in a fairy tales.
There absolutely is, you need rules in every story in order for it to be coherent. The Lord of the Rings is a "fairy tale" and has rules in that world. Same with Hansel and Gretel and same with the Little Mermaid and even Starfield.

The FACT that there's mermaids, witches, dragons and whatnot, means realism has no place in such a world.

That's not true. In The Little Mermaid, the rule that underpins the entire story is that mermaids can't naturally leave the ocean and live among the humans. It's why Ariel has to trade her singing voice in for legs and lungs. If that rule didn't exist, there'd be no story. You'll find similar rules in other fairy tales. A common one is that curses can be lifted only if very specific things happen, such as someone falling in love with the cursed and kissing them (ex. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast).

I'll clarify, the "rules" of real world don't apply in fairy tale land.

In The Little Mermaid, the rule that fish can't live out of the water is a real world rule, one that helps us to understand and sympathize with Ariel's position. Having some things that we in the real world can relate to makes fairy tales more relatable. Obviously, having some things that aren't realistic is what makes them fairy tales, but good ones have a mixture of fantastical and ordinary elements, IMO.

All art is made by the real world. You cannot envision any fictional reality without using what you know about your own experience of reality to craft it. Dragons are flying reptiles. Mermaids are fish-women. Vampires are politicians. And most importantly all fiction is saying something that is supposed to resonate with the real live breathing human interacting with it, in order to do that it must be analogous to human experience no matter how fantastical. Every single mythical creature is a symbolic representation of true principles, it’s just how the world works - you can’t escape the patterns. That’s why when you change the rules they still need to be consistent in your fictional universe in order to tell a story.

Nah it was distracting. The whole movie was a joke anyway though I only made it about 30 minutes in.

I had to level up mid fight and put two skills into piloting and shielding in order to advance the Freestar questline. Sheesh. Reward ended up being entirely worth it though.

30 hours in and finally starting some Constellation quests.

Are there followers who just say nothing or is it bugged? Finally traveling with Barrett after having Dani Garcia with me. Garcia barely spoke and never offered her opinions on anything. Not even sure her affinity ever changed. Barrett won't stfu sometimes and questioned me about my choice in the Rangers quest.

Finally finished the main story last night. After returning to the ship and talking to Andreja I finally got the commitment dialogue option so I'm going to hold off the NG+ until we tie the knot  Hopefully it's not long as I am running on fumes with activities left to do.

I had just started a new save yesterday as I'd been stuck trying to defeat the Starborn ships for days. Got to get the piloting leveled up this time. Sucks being level 40+ and still with A class ships.

Tip:

Use the flight simulator in new Atlantis in the vanguard building to get the ship kills you need to level up the piloting skills (if you take the elevator I believe it’s the bottom floor or 2nd to the bottom). That’s what I did to level up to class c quickly. Otherwise you’ll be jumping all over space trying to get to 30 ships destroyed.

I'm about to be class B, but a ship you get from Walter's quest is class C and this is one hell of a tip, thanks!
