To be fair, I'm not happy because I live in f***ing Arkansas (because of work), and even though Dallas is like six hours/500 miles away (and NYC is literally 1,000+ miles away), the game was blacked out on ESPN+ for me. Argh.
That totally sucks...I'm sorry you missed the game too

Fox also got an assist on the equalizer.

Two points again for best defenseman on this Earth.

There is nobody in the league like him. Not one. It boggles my mind how a guy without some kind of elite physical attribute (speed, size, shot, strength) can be the best defenseman in the league. His brain is just so f***ing huge. You literally can't read him and you can't get the puck from him.

So glad to see Miller pick up his speed. He was seemed to be a player that held back (lack of confidence). He has the potential to be a superstar. Hes tall and lanky and needs to realize he can be the Tage Thompson of defensemen.

Fox is Fox, simply the best.

Laffy is really bad. He cant win a board battle. He cant make a move as it gets taken away easily. The only thing he does is shoot it along the boards. No creativity, too slow, too weak. Sure Im sure confidence is 50% of it. But even if he played with confidence, Im not sure hed be good. He really lacks any type of skill. There is nothing he is particularly good at.

Kravtsov- also highly touted and just a bad player. Weak player, doesnt make any good plays. Puck almost always dies in his hands.

It's pretty simple. When either Fox or Miller are on the ice give them carte blanche to take the puck anywhere they want. Behind the net, around the net, circle the o zone 30 times. Just have one of the wingers cover for them (not like they are gonna score) the entire time.

Miller continues to play with balls. all over the ice. Then again he has the skating ability to cover the entire ice in 3 strides. Remember we he turned the puck over to Lafreniere in the WJC??? Now Lafreniere shines his shoes after each game

Big brain 4D Chess GM would have signed KAM as soon as he struggled with Trouba coming out of the gate....

now it's going to cost A LOT

What reason does Miller have to sign an extension now? Easier to just bash the team at every turn though I guess

General observations:

-Fox and Miller were outstanding again. Miller was sublime defensively.
-Laf got better as the game went on. Not there yet by any stretch, but hopefully the coach leaves the lines alone if Kreider's not ready to come back next game. Confidence with the puck seemed to improve. That deflection in the third period was pretty good.
-Please, for the love of all that is holy, break up Panarin and Trocheck. No chemistry at all. Please put Chytil on that line and put Trocheck with Goodrow and Vesey where his game is a better fit.
-PP Part 1. Did not like the lack of movement on the first few, and definitely did not like the forced plays to Trocheck. He's scored 1 goal from that spot all year. You're not generally going to beat a good goalie clean from the (we'll call it) extra high slot with a snapshot. Would like to see Panarin be more decisive with the puck, that includes both passing AND shooting. Less stickhandling, less holding onto the puck before making a decision. From the right circle, Dallas was giving up the play down low. During the 2nd period intermission, Vally froze a replay to show the pass to Trocheck. However, in that exact moment, Lafreniere was wide open 5 feet in front of the net with a clear passing lane and both D at least 2 steps from him. Would love to see Panarin either shoot for a deflection or go for the down low pass in that situation instead of hesitating, and then going high to Trocheck.
-PP Part 2. The whole league is looking for the Zibanejad one timer. Would really like to see them build something off the right wall to force teams to have to consider that side of the ice more.
-Sammy Blais. This guy might be the worst player in the NHL. Not only did he not score, he probably concussed Gauthier. Fortunately Goat's head did NOT hit the ice. Offensively, Blais has no clue where he is on the ice. This is probably the 5th or 6th time he's collided with his own player in the offensive zone (remember the clip everyone posted where he ran into Vesey?) If he's playing on the left wing, and he and Gauthier switch, then when Gauthier switches back, he's supposed to also. Haven't seen a player this out of position offensively since Eberle's first season as an Islander where they made him play RW and every rush he came up the left side of the ice. At least that guy could score. Hopefully Goat's not hurt too bad. In the 2nd period, Blais also dropped his stick after a offensive zone faceoff, took a full 4 seconds to pick it up, was late on the backcheck, and his man almost scored. At this point I'm willing to take a look firsthand at how bad Jake Leschyshyn's analytics are b/c I'm just about sick of Blais.
-Zibanejad had a very good faceoff night tonight. That was good to see. Hopefully he can build on it.
-Panarin had WAY too many giveaways and intercepted passes tonight. Stop forcing plays through sticks in the neutral zone.
