Yup. Can't overlook these plays that are forgotten, but ultimately are the key.

We played the team leading the West, outshot them, and won. When we failed to score, Gallant adjusted the lines and put the kids together and actually played them. Both Laf and Kakko played over 20 minutes. Three Rangers first round draft picks started the 3 on 3.

The kids got the o zone cycle going too with some much needed pressure.

If I pretend Fox was acquired via our 1st overall pick and Lafreniere is the 3rd rounder that played well postdraft and forced his way here with the Rangers giving up two 2nd rounders, I do feel a little better.

Adam Fox is as good a player that I've ever seen play for this team, and that includes prime Hank, early 90s Mess, and mid-00s Jagr.

Winning a game like that shorthanded against a Western Cup Contender with a top 5 goalie shows how high our ceiling is. Fox, Miller and Igor have shown the ability to will the Rangers to wins. Panarin was mostly useless but made a great play on the winner driving to the net. Mika has become a force defensively he was amazing all night. Gotta take care of business against some bottom feeders coming up.

That's not the way it works really. Good offensive teams can be shit defensively and not be good teams in general. Rangers are a good team overall.

To be fair, I'm not happy because I live in f***ing Arkansas (because of work), and even though Dallas is like six hours/500 miles away (and NYC is literally 1,000+ miles away), the game was blacked out on ESPN+ for me. Argh.

Don't understand people crapping of Laffy after this game. If not for Oettinger making some great saves he would've had at least a goal and a primary assist. I thought Panarin was a turnover machine and Trochek didn't do much for most of the game.

But I love how this team is starting to get it's swagger, like they feel deep down that they can win every night.

I thought laf played well tonight, set up zibs early for a great chance. I’d still like to see more out of him. But definitely some of the most engaged hockey we’ve seen out of him in awhile.
