So is the powerplay- 0-4 - embarrassing
It’s stale - Fox has no shot from the point and the league has caught onto the cross ice feee one timer to Ziba .

Not too mention we overplay our top unit .

Time to change it up - let kam get a shot .
7th best PP% since jan 1st
12th best % since December 1st

Perspective on moaning about the PP. Yes it can be better but it isnt bad enough to be doing silly thing like screwing around with Bread

We need way more from our 5v5 offense

We need way more from our forwards

We need way more from our millionaire 'stars'

Our finishing is abysmal on the PP

Lotta excuses there - we need change - not because we are bad but we are stale - video tech allows teams to catch you - stop your bread & butter .

Ziba & Panarin are flat out dry asf

And the numbers never lie - not only have we dropped - we see in a free fall to the shitter …

Not saying it shouldn’t be changed, but you’re also going to have a hard time convincing a NHL coach to not play his two most productive forwards on the top power play unit

Literally zero percent chance miller plays on PP1. Like zero.

That's not the way it works really. Good offensive teams can be shit defensively and not be good teams in general. Rangers are a good team overall.
AKCTHUALLY

we have the worst even-strength offense of any team in the Eastern playoffs.

So that's how it works. Carolina, New Jersey, Boston, Washington, Boston, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and even the Piles have better offenses. If you do not think that needs to be improved upon, I do not know what to tell you, besides you're wrong.

The ONLY team with worse offensive metrics than us, in the playoffs as it stands, is Minnesota.

Of course the wife and I had to miss this one lol

Can anyone update on how Laf looked in his "new" roles?

Thanks in advance

(I will go back a try to read the rest of this thread if that's the answer)
He looked good, definitely played better than he has and was way more engaged. I still want to see him push the pace more but overall the whole game was a slog fest. I’d give him a 6.5 because he set up zib for a great chance early and had a beautiful tip that otteninger made a good save on

It needs another shooter.

Our PP success has come from broken plays. The issue right now is when we actually 'set-up'. It's slow and predicatable. Panarin and/or Fox need to shoot and the puck needs to move faster. Zibs needs to stop flubbing his shot as well

The unit can/will work. There needs to be adjustments. Good thing we have coaches on it

I thought Mika played a great game last night. He was the one guy driving the play (besides Gauthier when he was in there). Also, his effort on the OT goal was amazing. He had two solid defensive plays against Heiskanen, one in the defensive zone and one in the offensive zone before the GWG. And his effort when the puck was loose in front of the goal created time for Panarin and Fox to get into the play and finish off the game.

I dont know what youre doing to that pic, but you're making my boy KAM look straight up like he's a star in "Planet of the Apes"
I didn't do anything to that pic. It's a screen grab from a shootout goal

That finish was fantastic, flashbacks to Richards, Zherdev, Kreisler etc. final stage goals.

This team is getting their mantra from last season going, watch out.
Right before it happened, I thought of Lindgren against Buffalo...

So really, I manifested it.

Seems like the Rangers offense starts with the defensemen. Forwards carry the puck into the zone and immediately pass it back to a defenseman. A lot of passing back and forth across the offensive blue line. Not just on the PP but also at even strength. I don’t love it. I get that Gallant doesn’t want to get into a track meet with odd man rushes both ways, but there has to be a middle ground.

Do you enjoy the powerplay ? Going 0-4 - giving up short handed chances -watching Panarin drop pass or overpass ?
No slap shot point threat since Tony D.

Stars were in thar game last night because of their top 5 pp and top 5 pk.

It’s time to stop relying on 1 unit .

Time to give Chytil & KAM & Kakko more chances .
I’m confident the best power play unit on this team has panarin on it. I’m also confident that he’s got a better shot and is obviously a better passer than anyone not on PP1.

Something that goes unsaid is that they were relentless recovering the puck. One of the best puck recovery efforts in a while
Well, you said it. Kinda makes one wonder, doesn't it? THAT was an all out PO effort, THAT is what some of the best teams do, on a regular basis. The fight and claw. Carolina comes to mind. I suppose Boston. Point is, this team has greatness in them, I just question the effort that it takes. I know, its regular season and teams just don't do that with the intensity that we see in PO's.

I LOVE the fact that this game was IMPORTANT to them and they simply didn't quit and was rewarded. KAM had that ticker in his head, first shot blocked (as he wound up) but KNOWING he had no time, he just got rid of it. Great stuff!

It was very nice to see the hustle and that they were hellbent on getting the tying goal, the desperation was there. This team had been terrible on 6-on-5s for a while, with a stagnant set of plays that they attempt over and over and simply not getting to dump-ins first or winning puck battles before the other team gets the ENG or winds down the clock.

Last year on the PP everything Kreider tipped/touched went in the net.

That was the case for Zibby in 2019-2020 during his run.

Now Kreider and Zib are both cold on the PP. Team has tried a couple different looks including setting up bumper shots, but IMO what they really need to do is place Panarin on his shooting side at least 1-2 times per opportunity. His shot there isn't Mika's, but it isn't far off either.

You can actually see Trocheck looking up at the clock once he leaves that puck for Key

OK. 5 v 5 play has been much better this year tbh. Total offense(pp goals count also) GF/GP is right smack dab in the middle. There are only 5 or 6 teams in the league that have scored a significant amount more(10+) goals to date than the Rangers. Improvements are always needed but my point is it just isn't as bad as you make it seem on a seemingly nightly basis.
