That was a fun episode, just what I was hoping for.
The Eye was more visually impressive than I expected. After all of the hype, I was afraid that it'd be disappointing like most meteor showers (that are more like meteor drips), but it really lived up to billing, especially during the chase through the middle of it.

I appreciated the look of that underground set, especially after the underground scenes in Kenobi that were presumably shot on The Volume and didn't look good. I also liked seeing the TIE fighters take off and chase after them, especially because they just stayed docked in the hangar when Obi-Wan and Leia escaped the Inquisitor fortress.

The kid dying was very predictable, which is one of my few criticisms, but at least it happened differently than I expected. I thought that he'd get shot during the heist, say something sentimental or motivational to Cassian and then die on cue on camera; you know, a scene that we've seen hundreds of times before. Instead, he was hurt when we didn't expect it and died quietly on an operating table, without a sense of fairness or closure, which felt more realistic to me.

I also expected them all to escape and take the ship to some rebel base of sorts, where they'd celebrate their accomplishment and join the rebel cause. Not only did at least one stay behind, but they turned on each other and split up almost as soon as they were safe. This is subversion done right, IMO. I like how things don't work out perfectly in this show and characters are slow to change, including anti-hero Cassian, whom I'm in no hurry to see become idealistic. We saw how boring that made Boba Fett.

Luthen loudly laughing in the back room was a little much, IMO. The other guy might've heard him or even followed him back there. A smile or quiet chuckle would've been better, I think.

Two nitpicks:

Even long ago in a galaxy far. far away the black guys were the first to die.

And they were sending messages in clear instead of coding them. I honestly think it would have worked better if the Corporal had figured it out. Have him yell that the vault was the only taking while running the guards down there.

These three episode arcs are perfect for a show like this. First is mostly setup, second builds tension and lets you get to know the secondary characters, third is where they raise the stakes and high string the action. I was legitimately nervous for most of EP#6, even before the actual heist started. Like it would have been easy to have the rest of the crew just be throwaway static uninteresting nobodies but the show gave them backstories and a lot of dynamics with each other.

I do wonder when more of the overarching plot of the season will get revealed. Cassian definitely doesn't like the Empire but it seems like he's going to need another push to actually join the Rebellion. And he doesn't seem to have anybody he cares about other than maybe his adopted mother. So will he go back to Fondor now or what's his plan? Where does Mon Mothma figure in? When does Sol Guerrera make an appearance?

Absolutely loved the tie-fighter scrambling sequence.

The Eye storm being reflected in the TF cockpits as they were taking off is the kind of attention to detail that has been lacking in a lot of Disney content, especially these limited series. It might not seem like the biggest deal but your subconscious really picks up on stuff like that. The Kenobi series they did I thought was especially poor when it came to the production minutia and it hinders the audience from being able to get fully submerged into the setting.

The best standalone Star Wars TV episode I've seen.

I overall like this show. Never once rolled my eyes in disbelief and annoyance like I do constantly for the other Star Wars shows.

This show feels like its made for adults. Or at least not to insult our intelligence. A refreshing change in the Star Wars galaxy. Long may it continue.

This show is fantastic. Not just for Star Wars, but the writing, directing, acting, and overall production are all top notch. The whole sequence with The Eye was fantastic and I wish I could see it on a movie screen. It's one of the few shows in recent memory (Better Call Saul and Barry being the other two) that has kept me completely engaged through an episode.

I think the next arc will be resuming his search for his sister.

Finally got around to The Eye. Just stunning stuff. Probably the best single story Disney has put out since they took over.

I just have one gripe and it's barely a gripe.

I don't care that Luthen wasn't being subtle about his laughing. What strikes me as odd is that the "rebel attack" made the news. The Empire, in being a fascist super entity would likely suppress that news rather than let it leak to the press. It should be viewed as an embarrassment to the might and ominpotency of the regime. Nothing too serious but found that a little questionable.

Well...

Andor did say the Imperials were arrogant and a social media type spread of the new might have been something they had not anticipated. For example Twitter use during the Iranian disturbances of '09.

I guess but that doesn't really line up with the previous arrogance. If anything it undercuts it. It's a huge security failure.

This show is awesome. Some of the best stuff released by Disney.... AND still 6 more episodes left.

I think that the Empire would be fine having that news come out. WE know that the ISB was heading straight to reprisal mode against multiple worlds instead of talking about tracking down this rebel cell or investigating.

Its justification for the Empire clamping down even further and probably a lot of citizens are fine with that.

The Empire probably had the boy doing interviews and talking about a gun being put to his head. They probably did stories on the heroic dead tie fighter pilots and troopers who were butchered by these rebel scum.

I know it legends EU, but in the time between ROTS and ANH the empire was pretty popular in the core, they felt corruption had been wiped out by the Empire. The Core worlds were prosperous and there was no chance of a return to a bloody state of war like what occured during the Clone Wars. Palpatine was probably seen as a savior.
The Rebellion was really a outer rim type of thing, but nobody cared about those worlds. I would really think that people in the core didn't really start rebelling until the Death Star blew away Alderaan.

Damn, absolutely nailed it. Great acting, great directing, visually stunning, realistic, actual stakes.

The Rebel squadron attack on Eadu is my favorite visuals from the Disney era, but I think the eye tops it.

I didn't care for it that much. I thought it was only okay. Wasn't Star Wars enough for me. Take out the lazers and tie fighters and it's just a regular space drama. It lacked any Star Wars fanasy which is what makes Star Wars great.

I agree with this idea... that I prefer my Star Wars to be more Star Warsy. That said, it's more of a preference than a rule. If it's something different and it's well done, then there's a place for it. And after these last two episodes, I'm starting to be willing to say "I like this!"
