Logan’s next step will be how he continues to grow in the summer then how he handles the rigors of 82 games next season. I am pumped with his progress but he has a ways to go still to become a reliable top 4 defender.

Glad he’s in the mix though.

He is hopefully our teams Chris Pronger-lite. Love him or hate him Pronger was effective and other teams hated playing him. Imagine is Stanley had that presence on our blue line. It'll give room for Heinola and Samberg to focus on skill & system and perhaps know their back is covered by Big Ass Stan.

The simple way he plays and his strength, shot, etc... he has a long ways to go, but...

They drafted this guy to be patient and wait for him to slowly develop into a Chara type of defenseman. So far his development isnt looking too bad.

Are you denying what it says? Did you watch the Leafs game?
The 2nd pair was much worse and barely get a mention in that article - that's all I needed in weighing that opinion

I think Stanley is lower down on the list of current issues, but I also think Fleury should get back in. If Fleury can continue to look a little more solid, (and with Heinola coming back at some point), Stanley should likely just be a rotational guy.
They are all rotational until one of them runs away with it - I don't see that happening but who knows

If that was the only game, I wouldn't have mentioned it. In fairness no one other than Connor was good. But in the part I watched Stanley was the worst.

How about if one runs away FROM it?

Stanley, like Comrie, has buddied up with the core players of the team. It was quite obvious during camp and prior to camp to see who he was skating with during small group play.

Are there better options available? Yep.
Will playing him end up costing the team some goals and probably a few games over the course of a season? Most likely.
Is is worth pissing off the team's letters by waiving him or sitting him for prolonged stretches? Evidently the GM and a handful of coaches think not.

Someone tell me what exactly we are waiting for Stanley to turn into. What does he do particularly well, or what has he shown flashes of, that make it worth waiting for him to figure everything out? I can answer that question for Heinola. I could have even answered it for Niku. What is "it" for Stanley?

Looks like a group collaboration article by some of the posters on here
It really does. But I imagine these boards feed a few media types. What's the qualifications to be a hockey writer?

One stat that surprised me was that Stanley hadn't allowed a goal on the PK until tonight. Which was a better result than Fleury. 11 blocked shots in 6 games, something I'd expect from a big guy. Goes beyond hits, because it means he is keeping the puck in front of him. Him making a Leaf miss badly on some edge work was an improvement in past years, it's not Matthew Knies kind of stuff, but I wonder if anyone sees an improvement in his skating this year?

I expect him to be a slower version of Dillon, less agressive on the boards, but a better passer. Be nice if he put more shots on goal.

Off game tonight, everyone's had an off day.
