Other other thing...
Stanley was written off as a bust, coming out of junior....he was very coach able, and worked his ass off, in the AHL to earn his shot with the Jets and gave a very creditable account of himself, and projects as a pretty good player, as time goes on.
Character....

I still remember clearly, when Chevy drafted him Chevy said right afterwards that they see Stanley as a long term developing prospect. Looks like Chevy was right, Stanley might be the biggest surprise this season and pleasent surprise.

I bet even Chevy and the Jets brass was surprised at the level Stanley was able to play at this year, he was not on the radar to help this team this year and only got in because of an injury to Boo Boo but he really opened eyes. Still though he has lots to learn and at 22 and now that he got a taste he should continue to get better and man the blueline for years to come.

I thought Stanley's press conference showed a lot of character for a young man who just got ousted from the playoffs. A couple of times the questions about his goals gave him the chance to pump his tires, but he did not. He basically said while nice, they win and they lose as a team.
The Jets have always said they look for character in their draft picks and I think Stanley has a fair bit of character.
I too think he will be protected in the XD. This guy just has too much potential.

Am I alone in this feeling... Logan Stanley should be promoted to the 2nd line next year. Yes, I said it. The Winnipeg Jets IMO should give Logan Stanley an opportunity to further his development by allowing him to play on the 2nd line. He has definitely been the most improved Jet over the last 3 years and his development has surprised probably 95%+ of the people here. I don't think ANYONE here thought he would do as well as he did, besides myself ;) I remember people at the start of the year memeing about Stanley.

All things considered, this is one of the more surprising analytical charts of the season. I must say, I didn't see it coming - certainly not this season.

He wants to "take a week off" and "get right back to work"
If Stanley manufactures an uiptick in skating and will probably get stronger.....we may really have something here.
Agree.

What he's shown is a very solid "floor" to his game. Despite his inexperience and limitations in mobility, he showed good awareness, solid defensive "stopping" ability, and sharp decisions with the puck. He seems very likely to improve on that baseline, and if he improves considerably, the Jets have something. He also has a very good shot.

The fact that he's big and physically imposing is a bonus.

It’s nice to see the general tone towards Stanley has changed drastically. Kid has made believers out of the doubters!

I will always love going back to the original draft thread and seeing all of the pseudo-scouts throw shade at Stanley, as if they were more wise than the Jets scouting department.
The reports made me skeptical, but I recall telling my brother that my one hope was that I heard he had excellent character, was a fast learner and dedicated guy. But I wasn't predicting anything (I generally stay out of prospect discussions before I watch them play for the Moose) so I'm not taking credit one way or the other. I'm just glad that he is turning out, because I wasn't happy about him when he had his really bad year on the Moose...

To be fair to some of the critics, the main criticism still remains the opportunity cost - and I hope in the long run he makes us believe that it was worth the extra pick to move up, and that the D picked after our original spot weren't a missed opportunity (but it could just as easily have been a bust since we don't know who Chevy was going to pick, though they generally have done pretty well with drafting).

That part is all speculation, and can't be changed, so I prefer to deal with the present and will cheer for Big Logan Stanley to become an awesome defender.

I think you have to expose Demelo (and I like Demelo)...... I still think SEA will take a forward from us but if they do take Demelo, we have a better chance at finding a Demelo clone for his 3 mil salary then a Stanley clone for 900k

We cannot lose Demelo, we need players who can actually play defense, and he was the best one of the Jets dmen at that.

Pay Seattle a mid round pick to take Appleton if need be. We can't be losing either of them with the weaknesses at defense.

I still think Seattle will take a forward from us. But I think I'd probably make a deal with them where we let them have Appleton and we move copp for a d man like Dumba or something along those lines. So essentially Copp and Appleton to Seattle for Dumba or someone like that who Seattle takes for us really.

Yeah, I mentioned in the other thread I’d trade them a pick to take Appleton, and trade Copp plus our first for Dumba

I want to see him take Forbort's spot beside Pionk next season. He's ready.

I want him too! Let him sink or swim! He reminds me of Ben Chiarot in that when given an opportunity they both surprised everyone. People keep saying that Cheveldayoff has to go but who is the biggest bust so far in the 1st round he took? Kristian Vesalainen? That's pretty damn good when next year Vesalainen should be playing regularly. Stastny and Perreault I believe will be gone which opens up 2 spots in the roster and I think the Kraken will take a forward from the Jets. Cole Perfetti I believe will be back in the AHL for a full season to get him ready for 2022-23. I think Harkins and Vesalainen will make the jump and honestly, I want to see them given an increased role. If they cannot handle it, let them go.

It's ok to lose Demelo if we replace him with similar or better quality.

I'd be thrilled if we lost Demelo (no offense to him, I'm a fan) in the X draft and signed either Dougie Hamilton or Adam Larsson in UFA.

I understand that attracting UFAs isn't easy but it might be another unusual market this summer, given the flat cap.

If I'm Seattle I might consider taking Appleton over Demelo anyway. Obviously depending on what their needs will be.
