Glad that every Canadian team is now eliminated.

If it's not the Sens bringing it back then may it stay in the US forever.
Montreal, a minimum oif 2 more years of rebuild. So far, nothing impressive about their young talent
Toronto. Beginning of the end
Winnipeg.. rebuild.. will be dead for 5-7 years
Calgary.. their nightmare is ahead of them.. they cannot even re-build given the contracts they have.
Edmonton...see Toronto
Vancouver... they are rebuilding the re-build
Ottawa... One and only hope for ending the 30 years drought.

I think Edmonton is Canada's best chance at the cup. To say we have a better chance than McDavid and Draisaitl would be jumping the gun IMO.

We have good players who might develop into the best Canadian team over a few years (with Sanderson and Stutzle being so good).. But right now and for the next few years I think Edmonton is our only chance as a country.

Can we just take a second to thank the Florida Panthers?

They beat out Pittsburgh for the last playoff spot in the East, ending their 13 year playoff streak
Follow that up by stopping the Big Bad Bruins in one of the biggest choke jobs in history
Beat the Leafs in 5 games, ending what appeared to be their best chance at a Cup in a long time
And to top it all off reaching the ECF bumped their 1st, which Montreal owns, from 17 to 29-32

After destroying the hopes and dreams of our biggest rivals I'm all aboard the Cats bandwagon.

Brutal turn of events for the Habs. For 90% of the season that pick looked like a lock to be in the lottery, and now it's plummeted to the end of the 1st round.

Similar thing happened to the Sens with the Pageau trade.

Heiskanen is such a gem. I remember when Chabot was getting compared to him, can Sanderson reach his level?
I hope so!

Sanderson is just different. He sees the game differently and in his unique way I really think he will get on that same level that Heiskanen is now.

If it makes you feel better, the Sens were probably going to take Greig anywhere after the top 15(Mann said they were suprised he was available so late in the 1st round).

Wouldn't surprise me after the Boucher pick. Mann and the scouting staff LOVE gritty tenacious pests.

If we manage to acquire a 1st in a DeBrincat return, could see Kalan Lind being a target for similar reasons.

Was hoping the Krakheads could pull off a win. Hoping Vegas can beat the Stars though, as much as I like some of their guys (Robertson, Heiskanen, Paveslki, etc..), I can't stand guys like Benn or Suter.

Sens' scouting sounds like my own scouting (read: not a good thing at all!), meaning: I watch a couple of videos, a couple of games in person, fixate on a few players I really like, and obsess over getting them regardless of the other players I don't know much about. For me it was for example Bouchard in 2018, or Rossi in 2020.

Hopefully with a better budget in the future Sens scouts will be able to have a more comprehensive view of the prospect landscape than they seem to do now.

I will be surprised if anyone loses their job in Toronto because it is a country club.
I will still be surprised if anyone out of the big 4 gets traded or if anyone at the top loses their job ( Dubas, Shanahan ). I predict the country club will continue in Toronto.

well after the top 15 greig seems to have been smart. pretty sure they tried to move that pick for schneider/jarvis tho

I am surprised some like Vegas. I cant stand them, good team I'll admit, but they fleeced us bad on Stone. And they got everything tweaked out for them with the expansion draft. They got it too easy IMO

I hope Florida wins it now.

Starting to think the Leafs are going to be angry for like one more week and then change absolutely nothing,

This is pretty wishful thinking from a sens fans perspective.

Edmonton has Mcdavid and Draisaitl... and a bunch of other really good players. Lol come on. If they got a save they would still be playing. Also got beat by a team with a 96.5 million dollar pay role that doesnt pay state tax. Who is probably going to win it all.

How do you not trade Marner for someone hard. Gives them the cap flexibility to extend Matthews and Nylander. They need to do the same thing as Florida. Very similar situations with those two teams. Florida won the first round last year got trounced in the second round and made a big change to a core piece.

To think the leafs are just done here is only true is Matthews wont extend. Its not hard to figure out what they need to do.

I'm excited to see 4 teams who haven't won in a while have a shot at the cup. Really hard to predict these series from my perspective.

Carolina has key injuries up front but their defense is very good and they are relentless. They don't give up any space and have 2 good goalies.

Florida has great depth offensively but lack the defensive depth. They play hard but I think their defense will be exposed with Carolina's forecheck. Bobrovsky is the key in this series. If he can keep up his play the Panthers have a good chance.

Dallas is well rounded up front and on defense. Oettinger is the best goalie in the playoffs. Seguin is finally playing better, Domi has been good as well.

Vegas IMO has the best team right now looking at the forward group and defense but they don't have the goalie.

I predict:

Vegas in 6

Florida in 7

For me its eating crow from thinking Vegas would be a lotto team after the expansion draft. I've been eating humble pie ever since and grew to cheer for them. Stone was my favourite player on Ottawa so him being the captain of Vegas makes it easy to cheer for Vegas.

Also, Vegas took advantage of teams that made gambles. Our gamble of thinking Ceci would turn out not useless is our own fault.
