While you do make some valid points I respectfully disagree about coaching. Coaching can make a lot of goalies look good/better. The talent on this team is better than some teams still in the playoffs in my humble opinion
you're not wrong... they had me convinced they would somehow squeeze inn the way they played after the all star break...obviously it was not sustainable for the rest of the season but it at least showed what the team is capable of...

This team over the years has been through enough coaches. I keep asking who is better suited ? and why fire a coach who the players like, so far under his reign there has been no internal or external drama in regards to the players and the team has been improving year to year....

if a coach insists on playing a defensive style of hockey the goalie in most likely-hood will benefit from it...I feel the goalie is in more of a position to make the coach look less or more capable...the head coach can mess with the goalies confidence but they don't have that much impact on how the goalie actually preforms in the net....its a very technical position, reason why goalies have their own coaches...you say a coach can make a goalie look better, I say a goalie can make the whole team better just like it can make it worse...its the position that has the greatest ability to impact the outcome of a game in general terms as it acts as the last line of defense and on the ice the whole game.

Seattle is fine if they get the lead. They are a team built well to hold onto a lead.

HOWEVER, they don't have the firepower for a real come from behind win. That's why we need to hold onto a guy like DbC.

The new expansion drafts are pretty awesome. I’m not sure people are surprised when they see them do well right away…. That’s the goal of these new rules. No one wants to drop that amount of money only to toil through a full blown build through the draft.

The teams are filled with the first guy teams didn’t want to lose but had to.

Dallas definitely playing the right kind of hockey at the right time, and they have the talent to back it up. I can see them going far.

Teams keep the 25-30 goal scorer, make the potential 25-30 goal scorer available. The expansion team picks up a bunch of players primed for an opportunity with some vets just entering the down years sprinkled in.

Guys saying they don't understand how these expansion teams do it. Vegas. Now Seattle. It's almost like the league had an intent and knew what they were doing when they designed the draft rules that accompany massive expansion fees

I've avoided Sportsnet the entire playoffs. I can't stand the Leaf bias.. Its bad enough on my Twitter timeline.. every reporter Leafs , Leafs Leafs.
I watched Sportsnet Central on the first night of the playoffs between the Lightning and Leafs, anchors Ken Reid and Evanka Osmak were wearing matching blue suits like if they were showing their support for the Leafs.

If you thought Sportsnet was bad, you don't want to listen to the Fan 590 or TSN 1050. Typical Leafs homerism from PxP announcer Joe Bowen and broadcast colleague and Ottawa 67s alum Jim Ralph. They don't even acknowledge the Leafs' opponents as well.

I am tired of the Leafs bias from the media as well.

I was in the US for game 1 of Leafs Panthers and the guys on ESPN were ripping on the Leafs and their fans.

"Why are they here, I thought they won the Stanley Cup last round." Was quite good.

And PK Subban is a tool. He says nothing useful, tries to shine the light on himself and you can see Chelios and Messier just have to grin and bear it.

I don't understand how these expansion teams look so good. Seattle is dominating the Stars.
Ah yes, Seattle’s “magical” turnaround from bottom of the league to elite team in the space of one season. When you pay $500 million USD for an expansion team Gary makes sure your fans don’t have to suffer much of a playoff drought (and that you don’t miss out on that sweet playoff revenue).

Do you think he asked them to finish bottom of the table last season so people wouldn't complain like they did with Vegas or do you figure it was their own decision so they could top it all off with a sweet pick?

Yes and no. Seatle is no Vegas. They didn't get the same quality overall that they did. But they definitely aren't eh '92 Sens, either. Making it to the second round in their second season is definitely going above expectations for them so soon.

Man if the Canes were at full strength they'd be a lock for the Cup I think.

4-0 now.

Oop nevermind it was called back

And a Rube Goldberg of events leads back to 4-0

It could be a Staal family reunion in the third round. Eric and Marc play for Florida and Jordan plays for Carolina.

The 1992 expansion draft, for two expansion teams selecting, basically from the scrap of the other 21 teams, they were allowed to select from.

Teams were allowed to protect two goaltenders and fourteen position players…

It also didn’t cost $500+ mil for an expansion fee.
