I’d rather bring a guy like Foligno in to play third line minutes and let Jospeh play with Kasty and whenever fills the the last winger spot.

No way is G playing on the third line. He’ll start will Stu and Brady as that line was dynamite, with the possibility of moving to play with Stu and DBC if they feel like getting the band back together with Norris Brady and Batherson.
I think it's our best option without adding salary, also G showed some chemistry with Greig so could be a third line that produces 2nd line numbers

True.

Montreal won the lottery and picked Slafkovsky last year, but if he were in this draft he wouldn't be picked in the top 4, maybe top 5-6.

Now the Habs can't win a lottery pick more than once in the next 4 years I believe.
If I'm not mistaken, the Habs winning the lottery last year doest not count toward the max 2 wins in 5 years since the lottery win has to lead to a move up in the draft order which did not happen since Montreal finished last.

Drai with a nice bank shot up high off the goalie to bring the Oilers to within a goal (3-2) with 11 seconds left in the 1st.

For sure. There's a big gray area and no perfect solution. I just don't like the idea of locking teams out because some drafts can be real shit.

Different sport, but after LeBron left, the Cavs drafted top 4 or 5 like 4 years in a row and only one of those guys was useful, and only many years later after maturing and joining what was the greatest team of all time just prior.

So? We've had to do it all on our own too.

The point of the lottery to me is cut and dry: de-incentivise active tanking. Nothing more. So if there's a limit to the number of times you can pick top 5 in a certain period, that does not interfere with the MO of the lottery.

Foligno would bring some physicality and truculence!
Regarding Giroux, I would play him with whomever works well with him. I would also like to see more offensive skill on the 3rd line so we can take advantage of other team's 3rd lines.

However, the lottery does not fully address active tanking. Its a bandaid.

Again.

I think he can be a solid 3rd line center next year too. He just needs better wingers than the sens currently have for him to be effective.
I think Joseph can be an effective 3rd line winger.

To me, apart from him injuries, Joseph's relatively ineffective year stems from not having a decent centre. Kastelic was a decent 4th line centre and we had Stu and Pinto on the top two. But that 3rd line was a black hole without a quality center the minute that Norris got hurt.

Strength down the middle. It's hard to be good on the wing when you're weak in the middle
