The best news in the TB-TOR series is that Vas' upside from his current stats is nearly limitless and he can start playing like the best goalie in the world again, at any time.

Even still, they've carried the play most of every game. Third period execution has been a disaster, but they have that "been there done that" kind of experience and that counts for a lot when you're down 3-1 in a series.
They kinda figured him out.

Sorry, they've "figured him out" to the tune of the worst playoff stats of his career? What is that based on, apart from the fact that it's a thing you said?
Derek Lalonde, who was the assistant coach in Tampa until this year, was on Sportsnet and said they realized Vasi was one of the lower percentage goalies when it comes to finding pucks from the point and they had to restructure their defence based on that. Notice how many Leafs goals are coming from the point? Now add in that he's also probably the most tired goalie in the league .

Even the best goalies have weak spots that can't be adjusted on the fly. In 2007 against the Devils, the Sens basically threw every puck at Bordeur's feet.

Sorry guys, just don't feel it strongly anymore. Give me one important game against the Senators and I'm sure it'll come rushing back, but the rivalry is dead and that is not the Domi/Tucker team I grew up to hate. That and i dislike TB too, F those guys and all their success.

He's done pretty well the last while other than Campbell. From what I can tell, Campbell and Nurse are their only bad contracts atm. Hyman was a heck of a signing in hindsight.
Going to Sens-Leafs games is enough to keep the fire burning.

Luck plays a huuuuge part in hockey. It's unbelievable how the Leafs being massively outplayed get these deflections and force OTWins... Hopefully they'll get trounced by the Bruins/Hurricanes.

Unfortunately the Canes have gotten a bit thin with the Svechnikov injury pre-playoffs and the Teravainen injury during game 1...

Good on Florida for extending their series even if we all know there's no way in hell they're winning three in a row against Boston lol.

Seattle puts Colorado on the brink.

Seattle has shown us what quality depth can do.

Some pretty admirable roster construction with no real stars with good coaching.

C'mon TB, have your game plan ready and execute it today. Not trying to drive home in the traffic that will be inevitable if the Leafs win tonight.

There will literally be a parade, plus my boss at work will have a whole bag of ammo to fire at me for all the smack I've talked this season.

It's actually sad how just winning 1 round of the playoffs is such a massive achievement for that group.

Maybe we should do the same and hire a UND HC in Berry who was an assistant to Hackstol.

Would love to have Berry on the coaching staff. My guess he would not come out of UND for an assistant job. When you look at how well prepared Pinto , Sanderson and Kleven were right out of school into the NHL he definitely is doing something right. I imagine the $ are pretty good at UND as well.

Ron Francis GM rock star!

I wonder how "luck", "lucky goals" and "lucky goal-scoring opportunities" could be defined and tracked?

Perhaps such "lucky" situations could be tracked for all teams for all games:
-puck bounces to player with open net
-flubbed passes going to opponent who then scores
-goalie catches puck, drops it and opponent shoots it into net
-puck bounces off stanchion to opponent in front of net who scores
-goaltender goes behind the net and losses puck, falling down, and opponent scores
-winger falls down while backchecking, leading to man-advantage goal
-etc.

Comparisons could then be made between teams to determine who had the most "luck" in each game, luck against specific teams, and most luck during the season.
