Kings are missing Fiala also

Goes to show you the value of a true shutdown Center. How a top defensive center can eliminate the effectiveness of the top players in the game in the playoffs. How they even out a series so effectively matching up. Kopitar is one the of the best of all time, the complete package - size, smarts, a threat to score, takes defensive play seriously and it’s his main focus. Just doing so well versus Draisatal and McDavid.

Eh. I'm not sure I buy that narrative considering both have had multi goal nights.

Oilers aren't getting production outside the big two from their top six... Hyman, Kane, RNH, and Yamamoto have not been dangerous whatsoever. That allows the Kings to focus in on Draisaitl and McDavid and apply extra coverage against them.

Kings as a whole are getting outplayed 5 on 5 but are able to clog the slot and double up on the Oilers top threats. Kopitar is a part of that but it's really systems play.

Every game is a 3-2 game so far in the series. Could be one of those series where one team scores 15 goals and the other team scores 16-17 goals and that’s the difference in the series. So McDavis has been good, but he’s not winning games with his play

I think Lehner's real issues came out a bit later in Buffalo, heck his first two season in Buffalo were pretty strong and it was in NYI where he was able to fight some of those demons; when we traded him he was still very young at 23, so a bit of inconsistencies was to be expected, and while the team likely knew more than the fans, he was still seen as a very promising kid, while Anderson was aging.

With all the info we gave today, the trade makes sense, especially if you don't think he'd have been able to overcome his demons without being bounced around. But at the time, it was a bit frustrating to have had both Lehner and Bishop and stuck with an aging Anderson, only to see both putting up .920 sv% with their new teams.
Crazy that Anderson outlasted them all, but yeah I agree.

I thought Lehner had mentioned something about needing that change, but either way we had three great tenders and lost two.

with Norris in the line up, I see Tim as 2C, Pinto 3C and Paul on the fourth line…. And at his AAV that is a little rich…. Liked Paul when he was here… but he decided to move on, and is better off than if he were to have taken a home town discount… he had to put himself in the best position moving forward, and his career first.
And Paul becomes a wing capable of playing anywhere in the line up. Paul on our 3rd line is better than Joseph. He's $300k more expensive than Joseph and better in every measurable way. He didn't take a discount in TB, he was paid market value for someone who can play throughout the line up, is solid defensively, but isn't scoring at a top 6 level.

it's a play where the greatest player in the world is two feet away," said Woodcroft. "His arm comes straight up in the air because he knows it hit the stick, otherwise he wouldn't put his arm up in the air... he would keep playing." Jay Woodcroft sounds off the NHL's controversial goal call.

Woodcroft is whining here. McDavid raising his arms up means absolutely nothing in this context. Any player in his situation is going to put their arms up and argue for a call that helps their team. Such weak energy and leadership from their coaches.

I can't stand the Kings cuz Due Poughty is a prick, but the entitlement from the Oil wants me to see them lose this series badly.

What a pass from demelo. Who would definitely be a 6 or a 7 anywhere else outside of Ottawa.

I want Edmonton to lose I don’t care if their BioSteel was spiked with laxatives.
Laxatives won't do anything. McDavid literally shat out points all season long at will. Watch the runs help him unlock a new gear that's too much for Danault and Kopitar to handle

Okay I don’t care if they tonya harding Mcdavid then lol. Not my business. I just want them to lose

to stay in Ottawa he would have had to take a HTD… that’s why he wanted out…. And Florida also is a zero state income tax state, so he is still ahead in Tampa if Ottawa wanted to match what he got in Tampa… It was a mutual parting…. So PD got something rather than nothing.

Paul was offered similar money. He gets that term nowhere unless he has a great playoff. Which he did

Listen, we all love Paul, but he’s a bottom six player who now has a 7 year deal. It’s great for him and an awesome feather in his cap for the work he has put in….

But he’s not a guy we needed to give that deal to. We already have three players that we want on our third line (Pinto, Grieg, Formy) and we still had Brown when we sent him over to TB.

I personally think that we can be super happy for him, without needing to be that team. I don’t think he loves the needle for us going forward.

We gave the money he wanted to Joseph. So it’s not like we were like “he’s not the guy to give this money to..” and then went out and spent it ULTRA wisely

Damn, Adam Lowry is huge. Dudes' 6ft6, I knew he was big, but damn
He’s an awesome player too

vegas-winnipeg is wild, Winnipeg pulls off a comeback to send the game to OT, friggin entertaining af
Watching it with my father. Halfway through the third he asks me "This guy that talks in between plays, he doesn't say anything useful. Who is he?" "That's Gary Galley." Lol.

Well I never said that, but Joseph is a lot faster, younger, and his contract is shorter.

They also seem to produce around the same amount.

I’m fine with the move based on speed and shorter length alone.

Jets dominating, but can they close out the game….
