I really like Paul and would like him back here on the fourth line....but I wouldn't have paid him over $2 mil, and certainly not a 7-year deal.

At the same time, Joseph really cashed in on a good 10 game stretch after being traded, so it's not like we're any further ahead with our invisible winger. Both contracts look bad at this point.

Pager's a true beaut.

Meanwhile the banged up Bruins are choking the Panthers out like a boa constrictor.

Bob in now. They might go to him for game 4.

That Lyon kid has played well and a big part of them getting into the playoffs.
Its good to get Bob some playing time either way

I don't think he's got the juice to pull this off. Just like Hammond did I think he might be out of gas.

But I also don't think Bob can pull it off either at this stage of his career. Panthers just don't have the talent on that end of the ice.

Probably not .. they are up against it anyway but played pretty well the 1st 2 games. Bruins have been notably better tonight.

4-2 now

Paul would add so much to our lineup I'd take him at his contract. Man imagine having Paul, Brown, Formenton and Gus back in our current line up.

Oh, I'd like him back for sure...but that's a big money investment on the fourth line. And money matters for us now (and how weird it is to have to make cap decisions instead of salary floor ones!).

So, in your mind, Paul would play 2C, ahead of Giroux, or Stutzle?

yeah, that makes sense.
Stu played 1C all season long, Giroux takes face offs but played on his wing and started out on Norris/Pinto's wing. When Norris was hurt, we all know what happened.

I don't know what you're trying to argue. Paul on this roster instead of Joseph gives us forward depth that lets Pinto play on the 3rd line.

hard for me to critic Pierre for the Gustavsson trade since I originally liked it.

But I know what it its like for the Gustavsson fans here. I saw the sens trade players like Zibanejad and Lehner when I knew they were going to be good players and I saw idiots yap their mouths here about how they were good moves.

Zib, sure people have been pissy about that one, but Lehner?

I though he said that he needed a change, had issues to deal with. Maybe I’m misremembering.

I don't feel bad for you, Connor. You have the C...kick your teammates in the ass. No reason why Edmonton can't win this series.

with Norris in the line up, I see Tim as 2C, Pinto 3C and Paul on the fourth line…. And at his AAV that is a little rich…. Liked Paul when he was here… but he decided to move on, and is better off than if he were to have taken a home town discount… he had to put himself in the best position moving forward, and his career first.

I think Lehner's real issues came out a bit later in Buffalo, heck his first two season in Buffalo were pretty strong and it was in NYI where he was able to fight some of those demons; when we traded him he was still very young at 23, so a bit of inconsistencies was to be expected, and while the team likely knew more than the fans, he was still seen as a very promising kid, while Anderson was aging.

With all the info we gave today, the trade makes sense, especially if you don't think he'd have been able to overcome his demons without being bounced around. But at the time, it was a bit frustrating to have had both Lehner and Bishop and stuck with an aging Anderson, only to see both putting up .920 sv% with their new teams.
