Out playing them at 5v5... special teams has been the difference

gotta outscore them not just so called "out play" them. The metric for "outplaying" is what? xgf? that is not a good predictor especially in the playoffs. I don't understand why people keep stating the expected numbers. By definition it is an "expectation" not an "actual event"

It is just beyond me...

The brutal cross check from behind on Engvall in the first when he was like 1 foot from the boards was all I needed to see to know this was going to be horribly officiated

Whats weird to me is if a Leaf did that, the announcers wouldn't shut up for the rest of the game, they would be replaying it over and over, yet a tampa player does it, and we never see it again...

Leafs don't have the same jump tonight. Not throwing big hits. Crowd isn't as loud as game 1 there just isn't the same energy in the building

Ya Tampa stole some of our shine but Our crowd should still be in the game taunting, cheering, and not trying to be silient bob. The crowd counts and for our home games be HOMERS and CHEER LOUD to either edge them on or to boo the opponents and be part og the game within the game.

Plus it wouldn't hurt for the DJ to jack the volume up and play a little better choices for pump up songs!
i.e.. shake the foundation -ac/dc welcome to the jungle - guns n roses. We will f'n rock you - Queen...ect..

He just wrapped up a ~ppgish season where he ranked 2nd in face offs and 1st in won puck battles, two important aspects to gaining/keeping possession. All while having some terrible slumps.

My nephew is 11 and 60 pounds. Has never worn skates. Put him on a pp1 unit with Matthews and Marner, and he'd be pretty close to a ppg as well.

Pretty obvious now why Tampa was so confident coming into game 2. Leafs play a no-hitting speed game all regular season. Entering the playoffs they just don't know how to effectively do physical play-off hockey. Can't make it your new style in just a few games.

Tampa mixes in grinding all year then it's just play by muscle memory in post-season.

That said, Leafs best hope is Tampa is too mentally and physically fatigued from two full Cup runs to sustain this kind of effort in all the following games. Could be. And, Leafs are still trying their best, no quit in them, they just appear confused as to how to crack this nut.

why would tampa be tired? they only had a 56 game season last year. and year prior was also shortened plus huge breaks.

Leafs need to adjust this period and get bodies to the front of the net and start firing pucks from the everywhere. This is the type of game where they are trying to force their skill game and the passing just isn’t there. Get in Vasi’s crease and take away his eyes ffs.
