Do you guys think Oilers will get swept and shutout in all 4 games?
Nope.

I voted Florida in 5.

I mean, the Panthers were really not good in Game 1 and still took it thanks to Bob.

I expect them to play much better in Game 2 and the rest of this finals.

For how good Oilers looked in that game...

Oilers have a -16 or -17 goal difference in the 3rd period, Panthers are +8 or +9 now. Edmonton are fortunate to have made the Finals with those sorts of stats. Even with having the lead, it shows you can't defend it and the Panthers locked it down in the third. They were the better team and gave Edmonton what felt like one scoring chance in that 20 minutes of action.

I still think Florida in 6. Florida probably looks a lot better tonight and I expect a win for them. Edmonton will find a way in game 3 for sure and then take one of Games 4 or 5 (I'd actually guess game 4). Florida wears them down and wins convincingly in game 6.

I picked Florida in 6 but I would not be surprised at all if they win it in 5, especially if this is the Bob we're going to get for most the series.

Edmonton really has no business being in the cup final.

I don't agree with that at all... they handled Dallas with ease. The won a game they shouldn't have in Game 6, but they also lost a game they shouldn't have in Game 3. Vancouver was a lot better than people thought. LA... yeah that team wasn't good, but that happens in first rounds. Edmonton was clearly the best team in the West.

Now I do think the East had at least 3 teams better than Edmonton, but that's the nature of the conferences.

I will agree with this if they win the Cup, if they don't, then I one trillion percent disagree with this. They faced a lot of teams that had problems of their own. For how good Silovs was, Oilers ain't beating them with Demko in net if both teams played the exact same way. The Stars looked like they ran out of juice, but I am not a DeBoer fan and never was. I blame them more for losing it than Oilers winning it, PdB was severely outcoached in that series though.

Going into the postseason, I wouldn't even have them in the top 4. They got an easier bracket (with an injured VAN team) followed by a depleted and injured Dallas team.

Cinderella teams: Dallas in 2020, Montreal in 2021, now Edmonton in 2024. Coincidentally, they're all getting stomped in the SCF by a team from Florida.

Prior to the postseason I had Edmonton in the finals (losing in 6 to Florida actually). This is not a cinderella story, they've been a top 3 team in the league since the coaching change. They have flaws and are not perfect... but that is a damn good team. Going in I would have had them below Dallas in quality, but their series win showed how complete and good they can be if their goaltending holds up.

Dallas in 2020 wasn't a cinderella team either. In 2019 they lost a 7 game battle against the Cup champs. They were a mix of their old guard and some youth coming in which caused their stumble the following season... but that was a good team.

What if they lose in 6, but are close the whole way?

I can't see this as one extreme or the other. They've been the best team overall in the west since December. They beat the team most (including myself) thought was the best team in the west pretty convincingly. Vancouver was incredibly underrated around here too. Demko may change that series, but they were not nearly as bad as portrayed.

Give credit where credit is due here. Edmonton has played very well this postseason. They've beat two good teams in the playoffs, and they clearly controlled the game against the team I think we all believe is the best team in the league. At a certain point, this is the playa haters ball

I mean the Oilers are no worse than the Pens team that won without Letang.

Fact remains, the Oilers dug themselves out of a MASSIVE hole and emerged as the Western Conference champion. That's no easy feat.

I'd say they're a well-built team, their one big weakness is the one the Avs had in 2022--you just don't know what you're going to get out of the goalie.

It also looks like Knoblauch is FINALLY learning not to pair Nurse and Ceci any longer, this time he's taking the added measure of removing Ceci out of the lineup entirely, which he should've done a long time ago.

The Oilers forwards are doing a great job helping on defense. I think that's the biggest difference with their game from last year and earlier in the season. Other than Ekholm the defensemen on that team are a huge liability.

Panthers need to keep up the hitting tonight, and not turtle after a lead. Bob won't be able to sustain that level a play for another 3-6 games.
