I’ll say it again, why did we claim “Crapnell”? We couldn’t have found anyone better on the waiver wire?

We desperately need to have more than just 1 line capable of generating offense at 5v5.

Right now it's KZB and then a bunch of guys who skate around in circles. I've never seen players circle back more than Hayes and Vesey.

Cracknell did have one really bad turnover where he tried to pass it across the ice in his own zone, other than that I thought he was okay for a 4th liner.

Can we get good stable Dpairs?

JK i know we have AV

It is four games into the season. This is the time to mix and match.

I swear. I am getting to the point where I want AV to get fired and then for this team to really suck so people can see that not everything is AV's fault. Yeah, he makes some boneheaded decisions. So does McDonagh. So does Lundqvist. So does Skjei. It is called being human.

For all of his flaws the guy is still one of the better coaches in the league. Every coach has their flaws. They just become more apparent over time and people begin to harp on them as if they are the single reason for us not having success.

I really don't get why both Hayes and Vesey run the same "Carry in and circle back" move every time. Push your way toward the net at least sometimes so the D-men don't know what to expect. It's so predictable, and they both skate with so little urgency when they carry the puck, they basically turn any 3-2 into a 3-4. Especially with someone as big as Hayes, it's maddening. He is learning all the bad habits of "old" Rick Nash without any of the strengths of young Rick Nash.

AV has been here to long. People need change so they can speculate and have a shiny new toy. There are only a handful of coaches that are better then him IMO. Every coach has flaws, and every fan base thinks their coach juggles lines and plays favorites.

Be careful what you wish for. If the Rangers nose dive, and AV gets fired, they will shift the blame to someone else. Medical Trainer Jim Ramsay better watch out and stay off the boards for a bit.

This is a transition year, and IMO nothing unfortunate about that.

One thing that it would be helpful if more could realize around this team is that by making transitions you are very likely to face adversity -- but it does not necessarily manifest itself at the most obvious places. Everything is connected. Like we all love Brady Skjei, and can all live with a mistake from him here and there. But this season we want him to take a bigger responsibility defensively, and he has struggled a bit early assuming that role. For the entire team, the goals against that has cost us has been one of many factors rocking the boat so to speak. When the boat is rocking, pressure is higher, maybe a vet like Hank is exposed a bit more than usual, the coach is forced to try to get things to calm down which might entail cutting down on a rooks ice time and so forth and so forth and so forth.

You often hear some people saying stuff like "I could live with a rebuild", against the background of those people thinking they could coupe with young rookies making a few mistakes here and there. But facts are that when you make a transition it affects everyone. From a vet like Hank who might look very solid so far if he would have started out with a few Skapski against Buffalo games instead of the Chaos in Toronto debacle...

Like I said before this season, when following this team this year we got to be prepared to take a punch or two. There will be adversity.

Well said @Ola transition year indeed - so where do u find us on the table end of this year - do you think we will be a playoffs team?
I don`t expect us to take any points vs CBJ with barely 1 functional line - and guys can`t finish plays.

But I don`t think we lost because we had an early goal against us since we scored on that PP in the same period, but it seems like too many are not ready for a new season, poor summer planing, not in shape, fitness, wedding, whatever they were doing - it`s not acceptable. And no one here should be safe in a package deal for Matt Duchene a player like that which we need in our top 9 or Nazem Kadri.

Get Grabner back where he belong on the 4th line - he played in that role usually with islanders as well.

The positive is we have a legit first line with high end talent right now. It’s amazing what showing up to camp in NHL shape has done for Buchnevich. He looks like a beast out there. Zibanejad shooting the puck like he is and kreider being the power forward that he is. This has been a team based on committee right now we have an actual first line.

I have a lot of faith in Miller Nash Zucc to perform at a second line level.

Grabner and Fast will do their jobs.

The real problem I have is with the rest.

Vesey Hayes Carey Cracknell and Desharnais have all been horrendous. Excruciatingly so for Vesey and Hayes. Two guys that MUST step up for us to have a decent year. Vesey couldn’t possibly look worse than he does right now.

I think we need more skill I’d bring Lettieri up and demote Carey who just isn’t an nhler. Cracknell can be the spare if lindy ruff likes him so much. Puempel too id bring them both up.

Grabner Hayes Lettieri
Vesey Desharnais Puempel for now until Fast is back

Cracknell the spare

I like Lettieri’s grit And shoot first mentality. Get the kid up here.

Blues scoring that goal 15 seconds in isn't on AV, tbh

Having Holden/Kampfer on the ice on a regular basis against Tarasenko is, and he was lucky as hell it didn't bite him in the ass. Using Kampfer as anything more than a injury fill-in is also his fault. Not riding KZB, the only line getting consistent quality scoring chances is also his fault.

Any coach would see that the DPairs have been ass backward for years...

Mcdonagh-Kampfer Really??? Yea the career AHLer had a good summer so he's a top pair dMan now..

And talk about getting owned in the match up game, Holden-Kampfer got consistently matched against tarasenko

Exactly. And again, the utterly inept defensive system. Or lack thereof.

Thing that irritates me the most about AV is that it always feels like if he'd just tweak some of his plans and ideas he'd be an even better coach.

At any rate, yeah it's early and so far few of the players are showing chemistry or playing comfortably. I keep saying this but the D have to stop trying to make complicated passes through the legs of defenders. Skjei can't make that pass like he did on the first shift last night. That's just right into a guy and a turnover. You don't need to do that. There's a line between playing confident and making high risk plays with little payoff. Most of these guys can move the puck real well but you don't have to push your luck every time

I had a serious issue with when AV decided to pull the goalie. Why didn’t he pull him when we had their 4th line stuck on the ice after they iced. We had sustained pressure but with the extra man that might have put us over the top. There’s no way of knowing if it would’ve worked but I can say that would have been a much much better time to do it.

i said before this season...this team will only go as far as AVs stupidity. It's not good enough to overcome a meteoric amount of stupidity (as he's shown) but should be good enough if he's simply average.

He's been abysmal, and it's shown on the standings.

The first game was by far our best..we've gotten progressively worse with every game, and AVs usage has come to hurt us time and time again.

but i'm not at all surprised.

Bottom 5 coach in the NHL, hands down.

He said it was on the radio yesterday, but I don't think MSG shares radio clips online like TSN or SN do.
