No the same situation as last year, no Mitchell now. Greene McNabb and Schutlz isn't a strong bottom 3, but this may cause DL to pull the trigger on that Defensemen he's been shopping for since October, rather than wait until the deadline. Knigs D has not been as good this year.

I'd like to have seen Forbert as well,.

The loss of Mitchell has left the D in tatters. DL better be willing to pay up because a solid D man isn't gonna come cheap.

Not only that but there are a lot of teams looking for that elite D and not many out there, a sellers market, somebody is gonna overpay

I still keep hearing he likes Petry and that there have been ongoig discussions between the 2 teams.

Other than that, the Canes are having a fire sale and although I don't think the Yotes would move Yandle in division, he's out there. Not sure who on the Devils would be available but they might be sellers. Mike Green is being shopped...

Hopefully DL is active dialing that phone

When he gets sent back to Manchester, he'll be exposed to waivers, correct? Given how teams are looking for defense, does anyone think we might lose him? I know we signed him to a two tear deal to reduce that from happening, but teams are desperate for D help right now

or if he comes up and plays well maybe he can be dealt, or now that Voynov's cap is off the total maybe McBain gets sent down and exposed.

Edmonton is big on clifford as the Gagner trade rumors suggest.

Agree that losing WM hurts, but we couldn't afford him and we needed a slot for McNabb. Obviously, no one could predict the VV mess, so we are where we are.
There are so many teams needing defense help, I agree that picking up someone that can actually have some talent will require a significant overpayment. I'd prefer to see if someone not named Schulz can be brought in from Manch to get some time in. Not to say it would solve our immediate issues, but just getting some time with the big club would be good.

Voynov really ****ed himself and the team over. He's exactly what we need right now, a solid right handed shot defense man. If Tyler Myers were better defensively he'd be a solid pickup, but he probably wouldn't be worth the price.

Asking price is high, Sabres have been asking for a top prospect, a top young forward and a 1st round pick.
Wings were interested in him and Sabres wanted a top-prospect, a top young forward ( Jurco or Sheahan ) and a 1st round pick. Wings backed off.

What about Kevin Bieksa? Contracts not great, but its only to next year and he could be a solid fit on the 2nd pairing short term. Hell, maybe even just to the summer. Nasty, righthanded, sufficiently competent at both ends of the ice...

Welp, never mind. That's way too much.

I can't really think of any Dmen that come to mind right now. Montreal has a huge surplus of mediocre guys. I wonder how much it would cost us to get Wideman from Calgary?

Actually his name came up today, earlier on a podcast Friedman mentioned some names, Vermette heavily shopped, Berglund and Oshie being shopped and then he said the Bruins and Nucks have been talking a lot and Kassian was the player the Bruins wanted or maybe part of a package.

Then CSNNE hinted at the same thing and Erickson going west as part of it, with Kassian and Bieksa going East. It did mentioned Bieksa has a NMC. And as good as Erikson was in Dallas, he's never fit in in Boston, just not his style. I think he would be a good fit on a line with the twins, and Boston has not made it a secret that they are on the hunt. I'm not sure if Benning would trade him inter division ,esp with the Nucks in a playoff hunt. But I guess if the young forward coming back was what he wanted (rumored to be wanting to decrease the age of his top 6, which has too many layers over 30)

Hearing from Canucks fans, they would trade him for a bag of pucks. He has been that bad this season.

Knowing DL, if he is going to acquire someone, it is gonna be someone who will have to slot in beyond this season. He doesn't really do the rental thing. If you look at all his past trades, they either stuck around for awhile (Penner) or are on long term contracts or signed (Carter/Richards/Gaborik, though Gaborik was a UFA, he did sign long term).

I like a player like Boychuk, but he would only be available this summer unless the Islanders fall out.

Be really interesting how the whole D situation shakes out.
