Seems to me like the risk of the current situation with Russia and getting Koromyslov over to North America is far outweighed by the reward considering he seems to be much higher ranked on a few draft lists

He also doesn't seem like a guy that needs to come over in the next couple years. We could let him marinate a little in Russia.

Like this pick. Assuming the current Russia situation isn't still at this level when he's ready, then the risk in that sense is way down.

Where do you find these rankings? I'm gonna put them in a spreadsheet next year that I can update.

Normally you can see them on Elite Prospects if you're a premium member. As I'm not, I just Googled it and found someone copied the first 3 rounds on a Leafs fansite. ;)

There goes Morden... Wish we could've picked him, but If we can't, I don't mind Bill Armstrong getting him.

Russia is a longtime active enemy and currently full blown terrorist state, a gas can with nukes bombing shopping centers in other nations. Yeah, assuming that just goes away soon and that they stop being so "weird" then great. I mean we don't have to talk about it, but let's not write a fantasy story about temporary weirdness.

To be fair, if the Ukraine war is resolved, it'll likely go back to how it has been the last few decades. There's definitely a difference currently than there was before

I don't agree it will likely go back to what it was before, as we are clear enemies again, but we don't have to talk about it

Our pick coming up again shortly.... Forward or Goalie? Not a lot of decent goalies available, but I like Silverstein or Muszelik from the NTDP.

Here’s a read on Koromyslov from @Caser, a respected Russian prospect poster on these boards.

“Koromyslov is an athletic big-framed defenseman with soft hands and long reach, also with a hard shot. Can’t call his skating speed great, but I like his edgework and impressive agility considering his size. Still needs to work in terms of filling out his frame, also I must admit that I view him as a bit too error-prone at the moment, would be important to get rid of that somehow.”
