At the game with my son. He asked if we could leave after the 2nd period and that was when the score was still 0-0, he beat me to it because I was tapping out. He and I both love live hockey but that wasn’t really hockey from the Jets tonight. The thing is neither of us were mad or anything we were just really bored.

Slumps happen.
Smart kid!!!

Got pumped by a below average team and didn't even look like they were in the game at all.

We are getting the post-late January disappearing act from the Jets in November. Any thoughts of using a 1st to "add to the team" or "using Ehlers as own rental" should be put on pause for now.

@johnnyonthspot is UPPPP
I would really rather have been proven wrong but this could prove to be the greatest collapse in Jets history. I do not want to panic after one pathetic home game but I am going to question the character and resiliency of this team if they cannot beat Buf, Columbus and Chi.

this is the 11th game in a row travel that had us going from coast to coast and back again this is not the standard road trip that every team goes thru but keep on acting like this is just some simple 4 game trip on the east coast..
Umm this was a home game and expected this squad for years has used the first game back after a road trip to mail it in .

How many games in a row have we had 10-12 shots after the first two periods?
Then we get the pity shots in the third.
That’s because they try for that perfect pass to score a highlight goal and they don’t even get a shot off. They just have to put the puck on the net and get a greasy goal.

did we not just travel before this game? are we not going to travel after this game? this is pretty much an extended part of the road trip... also if you actually paid attention around the league most teams suck the 1st game home from a long road trip it is quite often talked about...

Not the worst thing to work through some adversity.

On to the next one.
There is adversity and then there is whatever the last few games can be called, which is they are who the realist posters thought they were!

We did not but they did unless you are part of the team? Chipper? Chevy? Zinger ? Is that you?
They did not play anything resembling a system tonight. It was really awful. Is that because of travel?

Those are B2B and 3 games in 4 nights expect the same performance unless the Jets simplify their game … just put the puck on the net and get those greasy goals.

where did they play before today? it was in dallas, which they had to travel back from... we look tired, again, because we had no rest again, because we been traveling/playing every other day...

The coach was preaching that after tonight's game. Do you question if this team has the will to win? Just curious because I am starting to think they look for excuses rather than like you said simplify things.

Please stop. The travel is not the reason to play with no structure and try to make pretty passes that go nowhere.

If you listen to Arniel's presser, is sounds like the issues were more related to systems and game style.
I like this coach - no excuses - the guys simply didn't play the same way have played when they were winning.
The good news is that he is aware and will work on correcting the problems.

he also mentioned the scheduled and said there are some mental mistakes happening

you don't want players/coaches to use excuses because that could actually creep into their games but as fans we can actually see what's happening and they look tired and have looked tired for a while now

Have to say - a lot of what Arniel said... I had heard from Noel, Maurice and Bones...
The mid-season slump is coming early this year
Team still takes Helle for granted
Right back to the Blake Wheeler powerplay
PK lots of movement - thats a positive
Cheered for Lambert but Kupari or Vilardi are a much better choice for 2C
Advanced stats were 100% right about Ehlers - he's our only playdriver
Haydn Fleury and Pionk are a tire fire
Stan and Heinola are pylons
DeMelo HAS to be injured

I'm sure they are tired - that schedule had to have been a grind - but there is more to it than that.
Arniel also had a lot to say about the how players were not taking the opportunity to take the hard ice or shoot the puck - and he did chalk that up to mental lapses - but not just because just because they are tired. He also mentions that players who have not scored a lot recently, are making things more complicated than they need be. IOW's, making that extra pass rather than shooting - because they are slumping.
So it's fatigue, lack of confidence, over complicating, slipping off message, and so on - it's a bunch of things

I was watching Nick Susuki play tonight. He would look great on our 2nd line. That was our 1st round pick, but we traded it so we could keep Marko Dano.
But we have that going for us......which is nice.

Yes, it's the same thing you've heard before - what else is he going to say when a team goes off the rails a bit?
But I agree - when this team slumps, they slump.

It is interesting how the leafs were fine without Matthews but the Jets are getting eviscerated without Ehlers and if I recall correctly did ok when Connor was hurt last year.
The key to me is you either play with structure or need a driver who has speed and the ability to force the dmen to back up in their heels thus creating open ice.
The jets have neither right now.

Yes BUT a team that was rocking a 14 - 1 record in the first 15 games have fallen off a cliff and lost 7 of the last 10 games.

Truly great teams dont fail that hard because a difficult travel schedule. They find a way to win a couple of those games.

Well I missed this game. Making ice for hockey. Don't think I missed much. Sounds like everybody sucks.

Only 8 points now from being out of the playoffs.

Can't get stuck in a rut. That's when leaders have to step up.

Come back in 18 days and tell me about the Leafs …. It’s their turn 10 games in 18 days. They won’t travel as far only one game out of their time zone but they will play a lot of games in a short span.

That was a tired hockey team physically and mentally. Jets are a good team that we have a chance to get a win tonight because the Jets have had a brutal schedule. That's from a fan on the Blues board , even they can see how brutal of a schedule the Jets have had.
