I don't have an issue with Dean developing young players. Kerins, Kartye etc. got needed development here and moved on to the next level. Even players like Clattenburg and Kostov were developing nicely under Dean.

Not sure if he is the coach to bring a championship to the city, but I would trust him with our young players.

Dean hasn't gone deep into the playoffs but I'm more inclined to believe that's the result of the teams in front of him, not his coaching.

I can only speak for myself but the roster constructed has met the expectations I had every season so I have a tough time blaming the coach for that. And I'd also ask who's available that's an upgrade?

Upgrade?

Slow down.

You are satisfied with his efforts, while I have doubts.

I think I’m allowed to have those doubts even in the absence of a replacement in mind.

How i see coaching. Yes most good coaches need good players.
With regards to the OHL , if a player looks promising as a 16 or 17 year old,
how will they be at 18 & 19 when most good ohl teams plan on making a run.
so for example Travis Hayes, looked real promising in his rookie year last season,
with Dean as coach has Hayes improved taken a step this season ? Will he even be better next season
as being older and is expected to raise his game or has he met his ceiling. That's what Lukenda, Raftis
have to decide. Will players like Charron, Andrew, Muxlow, both Brady Smth boys. improve under
Coach Dean's watch or not. If yes you keep Dean if No you move on to someone else.

The answer is no.

couple off the top of my head are Bannister and Boughner.

I don't know how i feel about Dean. we've had some pretty good teams that he's been in charge of so it's hard to see how good of a coach he is. some of those teams could have coached themselves. they were fairly talented. but now that we are a young team, we've reverted to dump and chase and trap defense so i'm a little bothered about that one lol.

i did like Bannister though and would love for him to come back if they did can

Bannister wasn't that good. he lucked out coaching elite teams. the teams ran themselves and he inherited studs. Similar to sheldon when he ran into another caliber coach or a particular elite player he was unable to make those game changing decisions to get the win. Furthermore. more he had trouble keeping some of our star players in check during our playoff runs.

Raftis been sticking it to Dean since the guy showed up. I assume he would have had similar success as okeefe and Bannister in the same situations as those guys.

Now does he have the molecules to go deeper than those guys....I'm trending to the negative.

Chase Reid. elite talent. this kids going places.

K coach.

I didn't realize we weren't allowed opinions. My bad. Wish I would have checked with you first before I typed that.

imo Bannister was pretty good. He didn't always have elite teams but he always had a structure and even average players did well. Not just dump and chase like it is now.

actually I loved the puck possession. problem was a lot of times we didn't have the strength to get the puck back especially when the puck possession loss put us in vulnerable positions.

Personally I don't mind Dean and don't feel he's been given as strong a team to coach as his predecessors, but I respect the criticisms.

We could be in worse hands. Remember Stapleton/Lambert coached hockey? That was rough lol.

If an FA like Muxlow doesn't improve much, I'm not putting that on Dean.

What about Hayes? Even Martin doesn’t truthfully look like he’s part of that top 3 ( Roobroeck and Schafer). They’re good players but they’re not where they should be at this point.

I’m surprised you haven’t made a comment about how Dean can’t coach the team past the second round. lol!!! Hahaha

to be fair, they are on much older and experienced teams and aren't counted on for all the scoring.

IMO Roobroeck was always a one dimensional player. Martin was never considered the scoring star, but his game was always 100% high energy and dependable in both ends of the ice. workhorse two way player with some offensive upside. two very different players and I'm very happy with what Martin has brought to this team.

we get you have a vendetta against Dean haha and you won't sleep well till he's gone but it is what it is.

we are a young team, i'm okay with where we are right now.

I love Brady Martin’s game. I’d rank him higher than most would I think for the draft. I could see him going top 15 for sure. A lot of teams I think will be very impressed with him. Seems very mature and a leader, has his 2 way game and a scoring touch (that will only improve) also from what I’ve seen he can read plays good and has a pretty good hockey IQ. Also competes very hard.

Played amazing in the chl series they had with the American team and is my dark horse tonight for OHL POTG or whatever they do(first star?) behind obviously only misa, martone and Spence who seems to elevate game when playing internationally or in tournaments, and the 2 goalies Medvedev and Ivankovic
