A clash of the titans with 2 of the league's hottest teams sure didn't disappoint tonight.

Miller and Costanzo were both really good. The former continues his hot play. Hopefully this will reduce the foolish and uninformed takes about his quality of opposition. The latter looks like a completely different goalie this year. I guess a lot of that has to do with the team in front of him.

Looks like the Allard rumours were a little premature. He really showcased his 2 way game, putting up 2 points, while also putting on a defensive clinic in the third, where Windsor got almost nothing while he was on the ice.

It didn’t say he was traded. It said could be heading to Brampton and he said we will see if talks continue.

Could be something tomorrow or next month.

First off, I would consider the return I proposed to be slightly less and not more, but that's nitpicking a bit.

None of these are massive factors, but in my observation, they do matter when it comes to trades:

- Allard is NHL drafted and Morrison was not
- Allard played in the WJHC and Morrison did not.
- The Steelheads are getting a full season of Allard rather than a partial season
- Allard is a much better defender

I'm not implying that draft status necessarily matters to GM's, but rather that they are an indicator of talent that fans don't always recognize, including myself. That's why they consistently go for more than undrafted players with similar statistics.
Career OHL playoff points; Allard 6 pts, Morrison(at time of trade) 40 pts.

I think OHL playoff performance is more relevant to trade value then NHL draft status.

Any team that gets Allard will be happy, but he's not Morrison.

Arber Xhekaj had 0 playoff points when Hamilton gave 5 high picks for him. Late bloomers like he and Allard are not common, but I can promise you that teams aren't looking at playoffs stats from 3 years ago when they are playing at an elite level at the time of the trade.

Wow, I didn’t have the Hounds going into the WFU and handing Windsor only their 2nd regulation loss of the season on my bingo card! Stellar effort by Landon Miller steals this game. Marco Mignosa with 2 goals in the 3-1 win.
Suddenly, after starting 0-3, the pups are 8-5!

Allards value is only high if he’s a Soo Greyhound. Hes a talented player but he’s not some star who’s going to be a first line NHL player. Soo fans inflate value. Same goes for a 5 game winning streak, we are now contenders in the eyes of the Soo fans. Never the bigger picture.

Can you tell me about your powerplay
Theres bad then there is the Soo Greyhounds power play bad… lol

Miller was unreal and looks to have found his game. Was a great game to watch and Windsor is a team that keeps coming, kudos to the boys for hanging on to the Win, especially with Carlisle in the box for basically a full period. I thought they would fold with having to play the young guys on D. Of the young D I have really been impressed with Solomon, he seems to handle the biggest guys physically and can skate with the speedsters, the coaches seem to play him alot more then the other young D. Didn't think Carlisle had to step in for him on a hockey play but nice to see a vet stick up for a rookie. Last game in Windsor it was Solomon stepping in to fight Spellacy after Evans got blown up, kid seems to have alot of character. Top line looked dangerous and dominant and Martin laying the body was great on top of his offensive prowess. Hang on to Owen, Gibby, Carlisle and Schenkel until deadline to make playoff gates and sell to gain 07/08 players picks and build around the 07s. Martin, Hayes, Smith, Solomon, Gillen, Holub and 08 Andrew. This is the year to regain picks and stock cupboards for a real run in 2 yrs.

Possible player that may come the Soo way in a trade for Allard would be
local product Nick Rosetto.
Rosetto & draft picks for Allard seems like something Raftis may do

Only 1st round rookies can be traded in the OHL (and only after Jan 1) so unless it's a 2 part deal that one's off the table

We need to see those 2nd's and 3rd's empties filled in, some with multiples and then I'll feel real good about our next run. And with recent developments in the NCAA maybe it's too early to close the door on some of our 2008 no-shows?

I'd love to see Rosetto here. He's very small but has serious wheels. I was a little stunned that we didn't walk away with much from that stellar u15 hounds team. Rosetto, Blonda, Chitaroni et al were a lot of fun to watch that season and rolled with the perennial "big dogs" from across the province. It was a shame to watch them all go elsewhere last year to play.

Regarding ANY possible trades, I say "What's the rush ? ". Wait until deadlines and let Hound fans enjoy our current team as long as possible ! The only exception would be a team making an offer in the interim which " cannot be refused ". We have a lot of collateral. Most value should be in January barring injuries.

i don't think there is a rush! i hope the GM plays his cards smartly and maximizes the return on any move he makes, whether that means dealing now, dealing at the deadline, or somewhere in between.

Agreed, we aren't in a rush to sell off pieces, let teams come knocking at our door....discussion is only happening because of this supposed Brampton deal for Allard

Brady Smith is underrated IMO, once this kid is healthy, just watch! Carson Andrew looks like he'll be fun to watch in the coming years too

I hope so ! The most elementary rule in bartering is who comes knocking. If it's a buyer, seller has leverage and vice/versa. Raftis has to be smart.

It's certainly been nice adding an entire second line to this lineup.
Nordh - Allard - Mignosa
My hope is definitely a couple of young forwards back by the deadline. We will have spots in the lineup, it would be nice to have young bodies that we can develop with those spots.

I think one has to be a centre. We're awfully thin there, especially if Allard is dealt. It's essentially Martin, Brown, Smith (injured), and Vader. That's it.

Essentially neutral, minus a second round pick. Not as bad as some make it out to be. Hopefully we can add about 10-12 high picks and a first rounder with our assets before the deadline.
totally neutral... unless of course you look at the holes in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, and our lack of 2008 prospects. i agree about being hopeful we see holes plugged and then some.

but you exist in an alternate universe if you see our draft cupboard and call it neutral lol

Bryce McConnell-Barker scratched again. Roobroeck played and scored his 2nd goal.

BMB 5GP 0G 1A
Dylan Roobroeck 7GP 2G 0A

Hmm
