Prospect Info: Springfield Thunderbirds Roster

We have a lot of young guys that got some great experience playing this year. Very happy with the team.

Guys like Tucker, Kessel, Hofer, McGinn, Alexandrov, Washer, and even Kostin. Long playoff run on top of a very good season

A really shiny silver lining, for sure.

This experience is unbeatable.

Rosen and Lindgren were assigned to SPR after the Blues were eliminated, but were Toro and Walker not eligible or some waiver risk sumpn' sumpn'? Me forgot.

I believe Lindgren was an emergency recall since Binner got hurt, so he was probably waiver exempt.

I was also wondering about Torpo and Walker, which begs the question: If they couldn't be sent back, how come Rosen could?

Totally agree about this experience being invaluable for the young prospects you mentioned. Also believe Lyle and Bitten helped their statuses as future call-ups.

Only NHL contracted players on the AHL rosters at 3pm ET on March 21, 2022, were eligible to be sent down for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.

While NHL contracted players on the NHL roster couldn't be sent to the AHL after that point, NHL contracted players in the ECHL or CHL could play in the AHL.

Thank you, but do we know why Toropchenko and Walker weren’t added to the roster?

Walker could have been but they apparently didn't want to try to pass him through waivers. Toro wasn't eligibile sisnce he was on NHL roster at tdl.

fwiw, Rosen had to clear waivers when we sent him down after we were eliminated, but since (unlike walker) he wasn't signed for next year there was little risk of losing him. rosen was subsequently extended after he cleared waivers.

There was some discussion in the mass signings thread the other day, but looking at the roster for this fall on paper, and wow Springfield is going to be absolutely loaded this year.

Leivo-Peca-Frk
McGing-Alexandrov-Bitten
Highmore-McLaughlin-Angello
Washkurak-Laferiere-Witkowski

Rosen-Kessel
Tucker-Lyle
Cross-Santini

Hofer
Ellis

Kostin could also find his way back down there if one of the forwards on the list beats him out for a spot in training camp. Looking at someone like Leivo, Highmore, Angello, or Frk to fight for said spot on the roster.

They seem to have quite a good team next season, although I still expect the Blues to sign a veteran goalie on a AHL-deal for Springfield. On your roster you're missing Tanner Dickinson and Nathan Todd (RFA, still needs to be signed). Leivo might be a 13th/14th forward on the Blues and in that case Kostin might go down to Springfield (he does need to go through waivers). I think Laferierre, Guy and Callin could see some time in the ECHL.

Thanks for posting.

It’s hard to say which of those guys will be with the Blues and which with the T-Birds but regardless, agree that that should be a very good T-Birds lineup.

Surprised a bit he ignored goalies though.
Yes, that was odd. Waiting til they sign a veteran maybe?

I'm sure some of those write ups were more positive than they deserved, but I'm really liking our AHL call-up depth compared to previous years, and intrigued to see them in camp compared to the NHL guys. How does someone like Lyle or Kessel stack up. Bitten or Alexandrov or McGing, how do they compare to the tweeners that we signed this summer.
