Well not as good of news as getting the school he wanted, but I got 3 pairs of brand new tribal cargo shorts for $10 total. Wardrobe complete for another year
Excellent price / value. Low cost of living areas / countries can add years to retirement plan.

I promised my wife over Thanksgiving I'd finally either throw out or convert to rags some of my rattiest yardwork / painting / garage work clothes which are 20+ years old (2+ laundry baskets full). All the male neighbors and I do it, but my wife just thinks we all look ridiculous in torn / worn / holey / stained clothes (and she is decidedly not a clothes hound herself). My youngest son is a "big boy" and I have a bunch of his hand-me downs as he grew from a "L" to "XL" to "XLT" so I have "upgraded" both my casual wear and grubby clothes. He has dropped 20-30 pounds since his corrective foot surgeries and no longer "stress eats" to distract himself because the constant pain is now gone, but he's a good 5" and 50lbs bigger than me, so the hand-me-downs ended a couple years ago.

Man, I have the unfortunate side effect of my waistward expansion causing a lot of my old clothes to simply to not fit anymore. I've donated most of it, but I have a random suitcase full of clothes from several belt notches ago I hope to reclaim some day.

The shorts aspect works great, pants not so much as a good 6-8" taller than the average male filipino. Shirts are terrible in that can only buy international sizes so that gives the choice of either FUBU, or Tribal so all the 6' + or the true XXL guys wear the same clothes unless they're back from Thailand where you can find proper sizes

For a few years, I had a similar under-the-bed box with a few shorts/pants held in reserve from a similar "growth spurt" (sharing space with some truly winter clothes for Buffalo / Allegheny trips). Eventually gave up and donated the rest of the smaller-waist items.

I'm going the opposite way, went from size 32-33 shorts to my latest buy being size 30. Living alone means not eating much as its mostly slow cooker meals and then leftovers the next few days. Tmrw will be day 2 of french dip sandwiches though there'll be a few cocktails and a sausage added in at country western night. Sue me, something about the dance group in daisy dukes and cowboy boots forces me to spend a couple hours there

I had electrical work. I especially hate it in my shoddily wired house. One outlet I was replacing tonight is on a breaker that spans the length of the house on random walls. My wife flipped the light switch in one room and the light went out in another.

Shoulda got one game in
I got a new job. It’s night and day from my last one, despite being in the exact same field. My last job I was underpaid, constantly yelled at, was expected to work 7 days a week, only had lunch break, and had to work 12-13 hours each day.

Now I only have to work 8 hours, got an RRSP (Canadian version of 401K), full health benefits, and get left alone all day. Plus I got a $2 raise from the best pay I’ve ever had

So today was screwed, go to the hospital and before admitting they want me to pay $100 for covid screening or I have to go to covid ward. I ask them, how many covid patients, they say none. I then ask do I get private room in the ward, they say yes.
So my choice was covid ward by myself, or pay for test, lay on gurney in the hall for a few hours until test came back.
So needless to say in a private room in the covid ward. Only bad part is my 'nurses' can't come in but are waiting to help me recover when I get released in the next couple days
