There were plays worse than Utley's throughout the season, including one that ended a Pirates player's season that didn't have supplemental discipline and Utley will likely use them as examples.

Going to disagree. I've seen that play hundreds of times. As long as he is sliding into second and his body-length is within the bag, it's legal. And that's the way I saw it.

Fair enough but to be fair he isn't sliding into second if he doesn't start his slide until after the bag...

I just don't see how you can suspend for doing nothing illegal. Honestly this is on MLB not Chase.

Also, can't believe how far the 49ers have fallen. This is a bad football team.

Jim, Colin, and the rest of the 2014 49ers overreacted on that spoiler loss the Raiders dished out on them last season.

It's a shame the Packers' record vs the Harbaugh Era 49ers will stay perfect. C'est la vie.

Look here old man, the thing that's being questioned is how late he slided, not whether he was at arms length from the bag.

Look here old-man/young-asian-chick-wannabe, he went into the slide as Tejeda caught the ball. He may have been clumsy about it, but it was clearly an attempt to break up a double play.

MLB is so transparent. Suspension is for two games, that is the two games in New York. Not three games, which would include back in L.A. if necessary. This action is not as much about punishing Utley as it is to avoid a scene in NY and to try to dial down the atmosphere in NY for the games. That's not going to work.

Small token for the Mets who MLB by these actions and statements admit that the Mets got jobbed. Utley should have been called out for the interference and Kendrick as well, inning over, go to the top of the 8th with the Mets still leading 2-1.

No hearing for Utley, and in a strange twist, it means he can play tonight.

Laughing at the MLB....laughing, laughing, laughing......

Guess your theory is down the toilet. He's playing tonight, should be a lot of fun to see how Mets fans react. Security's job just got a whole lot tougher tonight.

cuz that's the way it happened.

good, hard, clean slide.

The bulk of the "blame" goes on Tejada for trying to do a 360 to make a throw to first when the runner was 15 ft away from first, when he started his jump 360.

He had absolutely no play at first - and he knew it. His best bet was to jump out of Utley's way, eat the ball, and keep playing another day. (like most infielders do all the time - you take the one sure out and move on)

He chose poorly.

Awesome. Should have never been hired. What a trainwreck.

Get healthy Steve and I wish you the best.
