I was always under the impression that the deal him and Dubas had was to get a fat pay check in some BS role after he took league minimum to play for us for 3 years or however long he was here. Same vibe with Gio. Seeing Brads comments I’m curious how his future goes here.

Spezza follows Dubas to Pitt? No way, shocking.
After resigning to spend more time with his family in his beloved Toronto he now moves all the way to Pittsburg, who could have possibly seen that coming?
Wait a sec, this sounds awfully familiar, where have I heard this story before?

Not a shock. I guess it shows JS was probably doing some useful stuff for Kyle. I wonder if ownership lets him assemble a battalion of AGMs like he did in TO? Good luck Spezz!

No way.... shocked.

Spezza can join Dubas as people who don't care about anything but climbing a ladder.

Some people will say good for them but having credibility goes a long way.

And no I don't think Shanahan is perfect either.

This is sports. I don’t think many in NHL circles view his move to Pittsburgh as a loss in credibility. Why? Most of the GM’s themselves have colluded or done back door deals to get their guys in management or sign free agents. I don’t know why people are so mad he did what he did. Half of you couldn’t wait for him to be gone anyways lol!

Dubas isn’t the first guy to do something like this. Toronto has been the beneficiary of management moves like this in the past too. Brian Burke did something very similar to Anaheim in order to come to Toronto.

Gio is most likely retiring that was mentioned before Brad ever got the job. Gio can’t play in the playoffs anymore so what’s the point of him playing next year ?

Assistant gm to Dubas shocking
Dubas was always going to be the GM , why didn't he just come out and say it.
To funny

He did… he literally said in his press conference he’s comfortable taking over the GM duties and he will take over them in the interim. They will decide in July/August whether the organization needs a GM in the traditional sense.

Karma for what?

Neither have accomplished jack shit here, Prindham was the number cruncher while Dubas was busy trading for the corpse of Matt Murray and walking Matthews to free agency at 26.

Spezza? Lolololol whatever he even did
Karma for KD & his lying, conniving ways. I also think Spezza will join him in a prearranged agrerment (my opinion)

So in 7-9 years Kyle should expect Spezza to backstab him ??

How did Kyle backstab Shanahan lmao? Shanahan fired him. Not the other way around. He asked for more money and for Shanny to let him do his job without interfering so much. Maybe a hard pill for Shanny to swallow but hardly a back stab.

This whole situation seems to be really blown out of proportion and we’ve only heard one side. So until others in the organization and Dubas himself spill on what happened the last year or so. We can’t just take Shanny’s word as gospel.
