Hes 27, turning 28 in October. Hes been a PPG player essentially his entire time in the NHL. Hes done it on a stacked team and one that wasn't. How many more seasons do you believe he can remain PPG or atleast 70+? Id say 5 more years (32/33 years old) of probably elite or very high end play. How much is that worth against the cap?

Eventually there is a Point where it is not worth it.
Example Breadman=12Million.
I'd prefer Nyquist=5.5M; Haula 2.75M; Kadri=4.5M... I.e. This higher price for superstars, actually is pushing down salaries for 2nd liners. Id prefer 3 2nd line players. Or 2 over a star.

Devils have $25 million in cap space... I'm all over Panarin if I'm Shero... even at $12 Million a year

Starting high and negotiating to find middle ground is typical. I’m guessing he and whatever team he goes to meet around the $9-10 million AAV range. AAV of $10 million would be pretty fair considering what Skinner got.

Everyone knows it’s going to be Florida.
Why would he come down anytime soon? He sets the price and let the market play out. It takes one GM wanting to add an elite top line player and he has his money. He is going to end up around 11 million without a doubt.

I think he signs in Columbus for 8x11.

Panarin wants paid and that extra year goes a long way for him to get the money he wants. Every other team would have to pay 12.6M/season to match Columbus at 8x11

He actually had back to back career seasons on Columbus. He's a line driver and can help carry a team, he's worth far more than just his offensive output.

LOL he's not staying in Columbus. Start your mourning period now and get it over with. And he will get 11 million plus for those of you who think he signs for 10.

And teams wonder why they struggle with fielding a competitive team, when you have irresponsible owners and GMs handing out contracts like this.

Sure he is a great player , but at 29 years old and hasn't helped neither Chicago nor Columbus win a cup should tell you everything about him.

Florida is going to screw up it's cap this off season with its frugal irresponsible spending.

Any team that could absorb his salary would be Colorado.

Not shocking. Of course he is going to ask high. Negotiations happen and he will get a bit less than that i think. I suspect somewhere around $10.75 - $11 mil per.
