But are they likely to move him?
Anyone that watched and followed buff in the playoffs would be surprised to hear Helenius was being traded, just read the coaches comments and their plans for him, they have 4 untouchables at forward that they are not trading for a 33 year old goalie, and with tuch seemingly on the way out it amplifies the need to keep him,it took them years to get a young nucleus of gamers, so benson doan and Helenius are staying with Tage.

Helenius is the main target in a Helle trade, so it starts and ends with that…as for the rest, that’s why they’re not on my list of targets…my comment about moving him was about Kulich

One of my favorite jets has always been lowery the guys a straight up standup kind of guy,and I'm happy for the contract he signed but man his best days are behind him because the hip is no joke and unfortunately it will be a heavy load to bear between pain and stiffness.i can already imagine the fan base critiquing his play this season and next,I hope I'm wrong but he has some physical miles on him.my estimation is him falling into 4c.hoping I'm wrong.

So if Helle has opened up his list of teams the only realistic targets have to be Buffalo and New Jersey you'd think.

What I like out of Buffalo:
Helenius
Krebs
Benson
Byram - if he would sign long term
UPK
Levi
2026 20th overall
2027 1st
Anton Wahlberg
Mrtka

Getting some package of these players would be nice. Byram is probably the one where if we can get him as a kind of addon to a bigger piece and he'll sign then maybe.

As far as NJ goes they really don't have much to offer outside of 12th overall, 2027 1st and Mercer...

I think he should be moved to 4C, but it’s unlikely our head coach does that

Damn…forgot to add Levi to my list…we don’t need Byram and Benson is likely not available

Problem with NJD is Mercer isn’t a C, he’s more a winger, so they really don’t meet our needs in a trade

Lots to like out of Buffalo. Definitely the best trading partners we could ask for. Feel they'd be more than willing as well. Balls in Helle's court on that one.
Yeah, it’s like being at a Buffett…how to choose what I want most
@WolfHouse ’s return of Helenius + UPL + #20 + Mrtka seems like a really good return for us

Would fill a lot of potential needs. I'd maybe even swap UPL for Levi. Less proven but a much bigger ceiling as a goalie.

Swing a potential 2C, 1G, Top 4 RHD and 20th overall out of them would be massive.

The 4C ask was even stranger considering we have multiple decent options already (Barron, Zhilkin)

And yeah maybe they are worried about Sammy and Salo, who knows. I wouldn't say no to Byram though if he wanted to extend with us, he can also play the right side quite well so gives us many options.
We would have to add to get Byram - and Im skeptical he is a sign and trade unless we are overpaying

I’d try to land Timmins as our stop gap until Salo is back and it frees up a bit of cash for Sabres

I think I’d prefer Levi also…grab a short term starter from FA and have Levi backup
Then we could use #8 on a LHD draft pick and #20 on BPA

Yeah all we'd need is a stop gap to platoon with Levi until he's ready for full time minutes.

I think we just go BPA with #8 and #20. You just never know in 3-4 years what things could look like if guys don't pan out on the right side.

Any thoughts on whether anything thinks he'd waive for Anaheim?

Maybe. I think Anaheim, Buffalo and Utah are in pretty similar boats. Just coming out of their rebuilds but definitely not proven yet. All 3 would make solid trading partners. Buffalo is closer to home for Helle so they were my first thought but he might accept a trade to some of the others.

Rudolph would be very hard to pass up on, so I agree…lol

How can winning the Stanley Cup be a terrible trade?
You have to give the Panthers credit they have no problem moving on from players and bringing in new ones.

Yeah I don't give them much credit for that. Same boat as Vegas.

Easy to move on from players when there's 10 more lining up to get traded to/sign with you.

Trades are going to get harder moving forward…even now I’m looking up players and one of the first things I look at is birth place…if it’s south of the border, I move on

I like Norris as a throw in - clears cap for them and he's always injured anyways. Maybe we get lucky with his health and we get an extra very good center

To add some smoke back to the Florida situation it seems Toronto is pretty interested in Bobrosvsky. So perhaps if he makes it to UFA Toronto might be willing to give him that retirement contract, So maybe Florida will circle back around after FA if they can't find anything they like.
