Agreed

Disagreed. The bottom tier teams in the KHL are awful and would probably be spanked by most AHL teams. However, the good teams are massively ahead of AHL teams. Like it's not even close. The top teams in the KHL would run circles around Buffalo, Arizona and Detroit this year.
Not even remotely close. Most of the top players in the KHL are guys who were either decent-to-fringe NHL players or guys who couldn't even make it in the NHL. AHL and ECHL guys. You look at the top-30 scorers in the KHL in a given year and you're like, "Oh yeah, I remember that guy, he kinda sucked." Of course there are exceptions, but in general even the best KHL teams would be very, very bad NHL teams. Particularly given their newish cap. Now they have to rely more on younger players and players developed internally since it's tough to build a team of former NHL/AHL/ECHL guys for $15M or whatever.

I think Barron is destined for the AHL no matter what happens here on out - but I wouldnt mind seeing him come in with a chip on his shoulder and show some more assertiveness the next game he plays in

Plus, why are waiving Kincaid and not Wall and Huska?

Usually vets like Kinkaid get waived so that if another team has an injury/opportunity it gives him a chance at a NHL job vs his inevitable trip to Hartford. I think Kincaid has more value in the backup role over Georgie because Kinkaid has the necessary mentality of a backup where Georgiev is a head case and shows clear decline in skill with low workload/poor situations. A backup needs to know that when you get the tap you are going into a shitty situation and you can't have a meltdown to make it worse. Georgiev hasn't figured that out and who knows if he ever will.

because they are exempt ....

Waivers does not mean demoted
it is a pre-requisite step to demoting veteran players on NHL contracts

relatedly, being demoted does NOT mean a player is ineligible for upcoming pre-season games

Mikko Rantanen went from 28 points in 56 games at Liiga, to 60 points in 52 games in the AHL, to 38 points in 75 games in the NHL. So NHL = Liiga > AHL

When it's clear that we have a battle on defense for that number six spot I find it peculiar that none of the three leading candidates are playing tomorrow.

Well said. I know he’s wants more games and more playing time. But when you come out with a solid outing where he looks better then average and the the next chance he gets He makes simple mistakes and gets lit up, your not doing yourself any favors. Hard for a coach to trust a guy like that.
On top of that, he’s paid too much.
I think he’d be better/more focused in a 60/40 spilt. But no way he gets that here. I also think mentally he doesn’t bounce back from losses/mistakes well and that feeds the problem. Goalies need to have a short term memory when it comes to that stuff.
