There is, a lot of hilarious whining on Twitter about this series. Andrew Raycroft tweeted something like this is bad for the cap. Lot of "lol no fans" "lol low ratings" type shit. My favorite is some Toronto based blogger who thinks the rigged this and Canada should boycott.

I mean, is it the leagues fault the Bruins and Leafs didn't take the Panthers more seriously? Is it the leagues fault Matthews and company didn't show up?

Shit happens. Sometimes the underdogs pull off the upset. Ask Purdue and UVA hoops about this. On our end, our team was better than the Islanders and Devils.

I know we're going to hate our opponent in the coming days, but man the entitlement is off the charts hilarious and pathetic. It reminds me almost of SEC football fans anytime a big recruit from Georgia or something goes to the Big 10.

Cap goes up, player salaries go up. Tyler Bertuzzi will simply cost more if the cap is $86.5 mil rather than $83.5 mil. Unless a team has a lot locked in at non forward-looking prices, there's not much of a benefit to be had.

Most leagues other markets tune out to some extent when their teams are out and/or big markets are out. The NHL is probably the worst. This isn't a problem with the markets that are in it. Those folks will watch. It's a problem with the markets that aren't in it and it always is. It's kinda crazy a sport that has seemingly has a good percentage of hardcore fans just bails completely when their direct interests are gone.

Anyway, some years you're going to have some or all small market teams. It's just the nature of the beast. Sure, they could eliminate 20+ markets, but contrary to the belief of a few morons, that wouldn't be good for the game. Screw those handful of loud mouth idiots and enjoy the ride.

You know whats kinda funny. Me personally am glued to the NHL playoffs when the Canes are not in it, but when they are and go out I lose interest at least to the conference finals.
