I'm curious what it's going to offer.

I bought a year of PS+ and between the PS+ Collection, a few of the free monthly games, and PS+ discounts, it has been more than worth the money. I'm at the point now, though, the only PS+ games left are games I'm only half interested in.
Yeah there's not as much crap in Sony's offerings like Game Pass has.

I really don’t want Sony to copy Gamepass. It’s just a useless pile of games nobody gives a shit about and then the occasional good release. Sony already does that with PS+ just without all the shovelware. I’m really hoping for a deep PS1, 2, and 3 collection. That will get me interested as long as it’s not like $20 a month.

I'm expecting:

Tier 1 : $60/year : Essentially what PS+ is currently
Tier 2 : $90/year : Essentially what PS+ and PSNow are, but discounted compared to if you bought both separately
Tier 3 : $120/year : PS+, PSNow, and added features like being able to stream games, extended demos, access to PS1, PS2, and PS3 games.

PS+ definitely has its share of shovelware. They just gave out what was basically a demo for Godfall a few months ago, then after that they decided to give out a 9 year old DLC for Borderlands 2 lol. Either way, the main appeal of game pass is having the big first party games day 1 at no additional cost and it is highly unlikely that Sony will go down that route

Are there many PS1, PS2, and PS3 games that still hold up and are worth playing today? I never had a PS1 or 3, but those eras didn't seem to age that well.
I think the games that are truly worth it have probably been remade/remastered for PS4/PS5 (Demon's/Dark Souls, GTA, TLOU, Shadow of the Colossus, etc.). Then again, I'm a new gamer so I don't have any nostalgic reasons to play anything and might be over simplifying things.

Lol I almost included that point about remakes/remasters in my previous post.
I bet there are some diamonds in the rough, mainly games with art styles that don't age poorly (2D, puzzle games, etc.). Anyone play PaRappa the Rapper lately? I could see that aging pretty gracefully.

So the big announcement for the minority of us that already have PlayStation Now is “we’ll bring back game demos… sometimes” and “we’ll bill you once instead of twice, and as a reward for bundling, we’ll charge you only an extra penny”… we’ll see if they announce any more games, but that was about as bad as that announcement could have gone

Any word on whether the classic games are getting a resolution and framerate bump? Cause if not, I have other, better, freer ways to play them.

Off by a grand total of $10.01.

Being relatively new to gaming, there's still a lot of games that I haven't played that will probably be included in the Extra tier including Death Stranding (which I think I will hate, but want to try), Spiderman, and Returnal which they have announced already.

Don't think I will be upgrading. Was hoping for day 1 access kind of like Gamepass.
No chance that was going to happen. Sony isn't a trillion-dollar company that can take short-term losses to grow their service for long-term gains (Microsofts long-term play is cloud gaming given their cloud capacity as one of the leaders in the industry alongside AWS), whereas MS seems willing to take losses in the short-term to be the preeminent service.

I'll take a look at the extra-tier when it drops as I'm already on PS Plus. Hate that PS3 games remain streaming based, but not exactly surprised given the unique architecture of the PS3.

Just scrolled through some "best of" lists for all the older PS consoles and almost every game that might interest me has been re-released in some other manner that doesn't require me to get this service.

The Premium tier is pretty niche because I agree the best games from those generations are either probably not worth playing anymore except for nostalgia or have been released for PS4/PS5.

But I think the Extra tier is worth it. Even if I bought Death Stranding, Spiderman, and Returnal pre-owned for PS5, that's over $100. Plus I would get online access, cloud storage, and the free monthly games.

Definitely don't need it, but it's solid value as long as you play a handful of games a year from the Extra tier.

So really only three things changed with this new PS+/Now model.

1. PS1 and PSP games are being added as well as game demos
2. There is now a "cheaper" version of PS Now that doesn't include retro games, streaming, or demos
3. You can't just subscribe to PS Now anymore, you have to subscribe to PS+ as well

It doesn't seem great lol

PS+ Premium is basically Game Pass Ultimate except you don't get the first party games day 1 (which is the main appeal of the service), there's no option to play on PC, and you don't get EA Play.
The Day 1 games haven't been that great TBH. Forza, Halo Infinite PvE, The Medium, and Rainbow Six Extraction excluded.
