Seen a bunch of articles and posts on social media that Briere made a HUGE signing this week. Behind the clickbait, it's just signing our own prospect Kolosov who is staying in minsk for now, anyway
There was one from ‘Let’s Go Flyers !’ on Facebook with a header that was insinuating that Cates was insulted in filing for arbitration and I had enough, I just blocked the account.

The Vet was an absolute dump. Loved it, don't get me wrong. But truly awful on every level that wasn't related to the crowd.

My grandfather's Eagles tickets were in 652. That was behind the uprights, but way up. You couldn't even see the back half of the near End Zone because the angle of the incline was so steep.

We were in the first row, so we always had people stopping in front of us and blocking the action. So eventually he started buying one of the 3/$1 brown bags of pretzels and winging pieces at people until they moved. Always tried to be nice first. But if they blew him off, the bag came out. Every once in a while they would start charging, but the whole section was season ticket holders tired of the same problem and just launched the guy back out.

Those pretzels were the best.

I went to one A/N game and one Temple game at the vet, we did mostly baseball when I was a kid. Best stadium I've ever seen a football game in.

I was just thinking about all of the awful baseball teams I saw play at that place. Literally my earliest childhood memory was the 93 World Series (I just remember thinking the felt pennants were cool) but after that? Slop for a decade. I guess there was no better introduction to Philadelphia sports.

Randomly, I remember you could go to an Orioles-Phillies inter league game at the Vet if you donated coffee beans. My old man loved a good deal so we went to see Andy Ashby pitch.

My memories of the Vet consist of a group of people pushing a guy wearing a cowboys jersey in a wheelchair down the ramp and my brother recalls a time he saw a guy crap in a trash can.

My personal most vivid memory has really nothing to do with the place itself. It was the time my brother "jumped off the top rope" (a couch) while we were wrestling at home. His friend placed a pillow over my arm and hand that were facing up. *crack*. I get told by my brother that he'll beat me up if I tell anyone and then we proceed to go to the Phillies game against the Orioles were I proceed to whine the entire time that my arm hurts only to relent and say i'll stop whining if I get cotton candy. I got the cotton candy stopped whining for a while where I eventually started to whine again and they took me to the ER. My wrist was broken in a couple spots.

Good times, good times.

Place wouldn't have felt quite so much like a toilet bowl if the contents weren't exactly the same.

Still love that team, though I had years of memories of the beforetime on top of that. The 93 Series, and especially the end of it, was my most vivid sports memory of my childhood, though. Really helped shape everything that came after.

Grandpop sold popcorn at the vet. Got my dad in free to a bunch of events, concerts included. "STRAIGHT FROM MAMA LUZINSKI'S KITCHEN!!" I unfortunately came along too late. Of course, what teams would I have wanted to see when I was a young kid? Ron Gant, ffs

Now there's a name worth remembering for Immaculate Grid. Forgot he played for 8 teams.

The 70s was probably (by far) the worst decade in Cardinals history. Growing up then didn't make it easy to grab hold of them. The thing is, the history of the team is so prevalent everywhere here that we were all aware of it, even at a very young age. I just couldn't get over Bob Forsch, much less Ken Forsch, so I just never cared. I did interview Whitey Herzog decades later, though.

Ron Gant ruled. He was an animal in every early 90s video game.
