He kept drafting them though, but he did often run into trouble after that. What he didn’t like were the older veteran Europeans (this applied to Russians and Czechs - but not Slovaks bc we had a few of them) who he felt essentially wanted to get paid for missing the World Championships.

I don't understand why 100 points was the benchmark he randomly decided on, but as just one example of why it's dumb, Kucherov had 85 points in 68 games in 19-20 and was pacing for 103 before the season ended early. And Tampa won the Cup.
