Top 10 Borussia Dortmund Academy Players. I'd like to hear about some of the players at other clubs in Europe to know about.

1. Paris Brunner (2006): Forward
2. Ousmane Diallo (2007): Winger
3. Filippo Mane (2005): Central Defender
4. Julian Rijkhoff (2005): Floating Striker
5. Abdoulaye Kamara (2004): Defensive or Central Midfielder
6. Nnamdi Collins (2004): Central Defender
7. Tyler Meiser (2007): Central Defender
8. Elias Benkara (2007): Central Defender
9. Almugera Kabar (2006): Left Back
10. Raul König (2006): Playmaking Midfielder

Brunner is the player everyone is very excited about. Complete forward. Total beast. Won Golden Ball and Player of the Tournament at the U17 Euros. He'll start getting his chance in the first team during the Winter or next Summer. Diallo is joining the academy this summer from Spain. The media are already hyping this guy like they did JBG and Duranville, and it turned out well for those two, so I'll trust them there. Then there's a drop off. The next 4 guys probably never reach 10 total appearances for Borussia Dortmund, but might have nice careers elsewhere in Europe. Kamara is the one I want to see given the greatest opportunity because it's a position of need, but I don't see it happening.

Last 4 it's too early. They haven't even played much U19. Meiser is where Collins was 3 years ago. All the ability to play central defense for Borussia Dortmund, but needs tons of development. Hopefully it goes a little smoother. Kabar is under the radar, but probably won't have the game for a club of this caliber. Benkara and Konig are impossible to predict because they've lost so much time in the last year to injuries. Benkara was rated as the best player in his age group in Germany like a year ago, and then missed basically a full season. Konig was once looked at as the next Goetze, and he does well when he plays, but injuries have been doing a big number on his progression.

I’m curious, is Duranville not on this list because he’s been moved to the first team?

You guys were playing Ryersen & Wolf at FB this season. Who knows how Kabar will develop from here or adapt to senior football, but he's more talented than either of them. Kid's a great athlete with a very high skill level and high defensive work-rate. I would argue that he has the highest ceiling of any LB you have.

Not disagreeing, but neither of those guys would've been getting games for Borussia Dortmund anywhere near the age that Kabar would need to get them before he'd be moved onto another club. So maybe at his peak Kabar can hit that level, but I think he'll probably come up a little short of it in the next few years.

No shame in that. We don't graduate very many players to the first team because it's an unrealistic standard to expect of local teenagers. There aren't that many teenagers worldwide who can reach it. It's the reason why a club like Real Madrid almost never has any from the academy play in their first team.

Reports are Chelsea are losing Tudor Mendel-Idowu soon

More interestingly, it would be nice if you could profile Alexis Flips. Didn't see Reims much at all last season, but statistically he seemed to had breakthrough last season.
