So who was the SECOND best team?

why you think this is becuse the way we play the game. if we had more energy you would say something else.

as I said 100 times: we need someone like ted nolan, sean simpson etc.

or maybe mats lusth.

I say it basing on how much chances you allowed for Latvia and Canada and how many unnecessary mistakes the players have made. They the way the swedes play, they should not have had so many mistakes and fails in defense. Against Latvia, Sweden dominated only when they had powerplay and they had powerplay a lot of times in that game, only that's why the score was what it was. Against Canada they lost in every single area, there was literally nothing in the final at what Sweden excelled. For Canada, Sweden was probably the next easiest opponent after Austria.

lol what?

Canada would gold again

If Canada iced their "B Team" they would STILL win gold.

Neal - Thornton - St. Louis(only made it because Stamkos got hurt)
Hall - Giroux - Eberle
Couture - Staal - Seguin
Lucic - Richards - Iginla

Phaneuf - Seabrook
Letang - Boyle
Garrison - Giordano

M.A. Fleury
Crawford

:)

USA was easily outplayed 5v5 versus an awful Russia team, were completely dominated by Canada in all facets of the game, and got blown out by Finland.

Anyone who suggests this was the second best team is embarrassing themselves.

Of course. But if it was Canada vs Canada, who would we root for?

Exactly how do you place USA higher than Finland, who beat them 5-0, and Finland, unlike USA, both scored on Canada and took them to OT.

Because I'm looking at the games that mattered to the U.S., and how well they played in those games, not only how well they did.

I saw that bronze medal game. They didn't care, so they weren't trying, so I'm throwing that game out.

Just because Europeans give a damn about that game is about as meaningful to me (and most Canadians and Americans) as who's third best in the Stanley Cup playoffs. I mean, what a worthless stat that would be, if anyone tracked it, right?

A much better way to tell who's better is to look at the level of play against Canada. And I saw both those games. The Americans were much more dangerous looking. Much.

Finland simply played not to lose. That's not winning hockey to me, and Canada proved it.

The Americans, at least, didn't play to lose. They played better than Finland.

IMO Campbell would be one of the first defensemen selected to a B team.

Everyone in Canada contributes to our dominance in hockey. :yo:

Good for you.

Yes, and everyone in USA contributes to the fact the greatest basketball players in the world come from USA. Interesting logic.

My second point was, since things need to be spelled out for you, enjoy it now because life returns to normal for most hockey fans by mid-week, and all this will be a memory.

If they didn't care wouldn't that mean they have no heart?

That doesn't sound like a very good team.

That has to be one of the saddest excuses I've ever heard.

Fair enough. I will have to take your word for it - I have no interest in basketball.

Thank you for spelling it out for me.

I know all teams can bring up injuries, but I would've been very interested to see how well Finland would have done with the Koivu's (Mikko is a horse),Barkov, Fillipula and Rask( in the Sweden game). IMO Rask was the best goalie in the Tournament.

Would? Yes, they certainly could, but you talk like it'd be guaranteed. Oh come on, don't start with these kind of things again. You have no way to actually prove that. Yeah that looks great on paper but how can you know if the chemistry would be as good as with the actual Olympic team etc.

Congrats on the win, just enjoy the fact that you won the Olympic gold medal, but I'm getting tired of this "We could ice multiple teams and they'd all medal" stuff. (Not directed to you, just Canadian fans in general.) It's somewhat disrespectful to other countries.

Norway
(one day... one day it will happen...)

Way back in the 70s in elementary school in Northern Ontario we actually had an L.A. Kings fan who wrote a piece for English class about the Kings winning a cup in the sun... he got a bit of a hard time :D Took some time, but one day it DID happen!

Maybe like this: Sweden, Finland, USA then Russia and Latvia. If anyone denies it, I have proof to support it.
