So who was the SECOND best team?

Sweden proved to be better than Finland and went undefeated up until the gold medal game.
For this, they won silver for being the second best team..

Finland was clearly better than the US. They didn't have more talent, but they had way more heart. Regardless of the reasons.
For that, they won bronze for being the third best team..

After that I'd say the US and Russia.

People need to quit using game scores to justify standings. Canada "barely" beat teams like Latvia or Norway while beating Sweden 3-0.
Would anyone really be dumb enough to say Norway or Latvia are better than Sweden because they scored? Better than the US, too?

Rask didn't play that game, did he? Out with the flu..

USA, Latvia and Norway lost with less than Sweden;) And Canada was closer to winning this game 6-0 that Sweden was to score. Sweden had such an easy way except for the semi where Rask didnt play.

lehtonen is very good.

sweden won over latvia and is much better than norway, it does not matter.

sweden eazye way becuse we win our robin rabbit games, it is important.

Going with my home boys Finland. We beat Russia in the quarters, lost 2-1 against Sweden and that game was really even also, Rask didn't play in that game. Despite having a lot of injuries (Koivu, Filppula, Barkov, Pitkänen) it was a solid performance. Oh and we crushed the U.S 5-0.....

We lost against Canada in the OT, but it could have been worse without Rask. Canada no doubt was the #1.

I think im too European to understand, to not care about bronze game.. If i would be playing there, i would try to win every game..

Have to ask, where's the pride to go in game to lose?

Who's being second best, thats' going to be Sweden. Allthough Finland and/or USA gave Canada most challence.

Canada 2 would have been neck and neck for the gold if they were here. More of s contender than the other countries.

Canada won USA in regulation. Finland took Canada to overtime and actually scored against them...

Yes, they did better... but they didn't play better. Compared to the Americans, they were far more passive, trying much more to rely on luck to have a chance.

It's only because they got some of that luck (to the tune of just one goal), that it went to overtime.

Just like in most tournaments, the U.S. beat up on the weak teams and then read too much into it. They were the 4th best team - and could have easily slipped to 5th.

Why does every comment you make bash US hockey? Strange. Were you beat up once on the other side of the border?

I don't like this playoff system. The 2 teams with most points should be in the final, not the ones that has the lucky bounces in couple of games.

I wouldn't take too much from people on the internet saying the USA didn't care. Only the players know why they lacked heart. They cared about the bronze, they just didn't have heart--or balls.

Some of these arguments are funny. Europeans definitely have a better grasp on what the Olympics are about.
They give out these bronze, silver, and gold medals to make it very easy for everyone to know who's best, second best, and third best.

Why are some people reluctant to believe that the second best team didn't win silver? Pretty sure that's what the silver represents.

Teams have different styles. Some work better against certain teams.

Sweden
Finland
USA
Russia

Canada kept getting better ....they still looked,fresh.....
Swedes also faced Canada in game six as opposed to game 5 or 4 or game 3..... every team except Canada looked more worn down

Homerable.mention to both Swe and Fin for substantial injuries .

Swe vs Fin ..Fin skated hard(game 3 vs a game 6)... but also relied more on clutching and grabbing `...don't know if they would have been able to keep the skating pace up that they did in game three....
Would say also Fin had that mental block vs Swe..
