Taking Mike Brown out of the line-up takes even more physicality from the forwards which are needing more rather than less of that ingredient.

Who is going to drop the gloves in your forward group?

I agree. It would be tempting to put Komarov and Mike Brown on the same line. If we do have some injuries at some point then I for one would make that move. Would be some beautiful energy and fighting spirit going on there. They play the same kind of game and I've seen Komarov play a lot. That line would be a killer elite. No matter who would play center for these guys.

I think a Komarov -- McClement -- Brown 4th line is all but a forgone conclusion based on abilities and roles of the players involved.

If Leo doesn't make the Leafs he is going back to Russia to play in the KHL and would therefore be unavailable for the rest of the year. That helps management decide if he should be apart of the Leafs when season opens.

probably doesn't mean much, but heard Kadri was skating with MacArthur and Kulemin.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
JVR - Grabovski - Frattin
Mac - Kadri - Kulemin
McC - Steckel - Brown

I'd love to see us role 3 scoring lines, then an energy line.

Right now we have 1 too may wingers, and are short a #1C.

We need one move for a #1C and our forward group looks like one of the better ones in the league.

Yeah there are so many players trying to get all those spots. I'm amazed if Komarov doesn't show that same energy/hard drive he always does, during this training camp that is. But he still might not make it. There are so many fine athletes fighting out there. Interesting to see though and maybe even some trades are coming up... (?) Who knows what Nonis is about to see and do.

That would be awesome if we were talking NHL 13 and dreams!

But we know that that just isn't the Carlyle style - defense and responsibility first, plus he will want that checking line. Tim Connolly played a lot on that line last year too, so it'll be interesting to see what role Carlyle uses him in this year.

mike brown sucks at fighting.

Sucking at fighting is almost irrelevant.

Having a guy who is consistently willing and ready to drop the gloves and lend out a physical price in defense of his teammates, or at least someone the threat of someone as mentioned, is why most people are putting him into the lineup.

Fwiw - I don't think he's a crap fighter. He's handed out his fair share of punishment.

Steckel/Lombardi/Connolly

Interesting how little respect MacA gets, even in my lineup. 3rd highest scoring winger last year, and we've all got him pencilled way down the lineup.

At this point Lombardi should be put on waivers, as much as a favour to him, as anything else. I think Kadri will be given a chance as the 3rd line C, but if it doesn't work out, you'll see Steckel or Connolly there. Brown/Orr will move in and out depending on who we are playing, with Steckel or Connolly being inserted at times. I also see rolling players in and out, with a condensed schedule.

Mac is history < April and Kadri will step in on the Wing (Kadri shouldn't be playing center anyway)
Lomo and Connolly are going to own the pressbox / get waived.

This is hoping that the 1st line can continue their success from last season, and that 2nd line can rekindle the success they had 2 seasons ago. The 3rd line is of personal curiosity for me, as Kadri/Frattin have had decent success in the AHL together and I would love too see what they could do with JVR. Then lastly you have your solid shutdown line that's physical, can draw penalties, and can be relied upon to play well every time their on the ice, whether that's in the last minute of a game, or to spark some energy. On D the Gunnar/Phanuef pairing is pretty self explanatory, followed by a Gardiner/Franson pairing which I think could develop some chemistry, then lastly Liles to play with a shutdown dman so he can do his thing on O.

We obviously still need upgrades at 1C and 1G, (Would even prefer a complete shutdown 3rd pairing like Frazer/Holzer as an example), but these are just personal preferences of what I think could work, but regardless hope we can find some success this season!

Pretty accurate , I would throw Komorov in there instead of Frattin.
Franson instead of Fraser...

I do not think Kadri will be a starting centre anytime soon. I guarantee that Bozie will start off in between Phil and Joffrey.

Lupul.....Bozak.....Kessel
MacArthur.....Grabovksi.....JVR
Kulemin.....McClement.....Kadri
Komarov.....Steckel.....Brown

Gunnarsson.....Phaneuf
Franson.....Liles
Holzer.....Gardiner when healthy
Komisarek

Komi will be a healthy scratch a lot if he doesn't play his top game. Imo him and Holzer fight for that 5th/6th d-spot all year. Reilly doesn't play.

Frattin is good and I think it is a toss up between him and Leo Komarov. Imo I like Frattin more (bias) but Komarov is more suited for the bottom 6 roll. Frattin is a first 9 type player and there is virtually no room for him. So don't bother implementing him in your lines. Sad to say.

Goalies are a given. But I think Scrivens will be the more dependable , I get a good feeling when I see him play.

I guess Gunnarson-Komiserek are our shutdown line. RC must be impressed with Komi so far.

Love our forward lines. Great mix of skill, scoring, two-way play and grit.
