nobody else had a problem with it. get a life.

Very happy with my life.

If you had just made your original post I would not have paid much attention but when you followed up with some factually incorrect statements, I felt like pointing it out.

Maybe I was too obnoxious, so I apologize for that.

Would I be correct that right now Kreider does everything at an above average level offensively except shoot and deke and some things he does at a way better than average level like skate?

His shot is above average as well. Stickhandling...kind of depends, every once and awhile you see him pull something but really he benefits more from puck control than deking guys. He can cycle along the boards or drive to the net and keep the puck on his stick

If Kreider would play a little more physical and start forechecking harder he would be an absolute monster. He's just too big, fast and strong for most d-men in this league to handle.

Aside from headhunting for big open ice hits I'm not sure Kreider could effectively play more physically or forecheck harder. He finishes his checks just about every time and makes it hurt while he's at it, and he uses his speed to forecheck and take the puck away before the other teams D can move it well. He's probably the teams best forechecker right now, not really sure what else he could do to make it better since he already is always going in hard to take the puck away or make a hit.

Or Marc Staal, but they are the exception to the rule. McDonagh was at least arbitration eligible, so we had extra incentive to give him a long term deal. I'm sure he could have gotten 4+ in arbitration. Better to lock him up long term.

I would love it if we could lock up Kreider long term. Give him 6 years @ 3.5 per year. We can easily afford it now, especially if we trade Cally and/or Girardi, and it will be a huge bargain down the road.

underline: concur, we should make every effort in that regard.

bold: Would suggest the max; correct me if I'm wrong but what is max term? Isn't it like 8, 9 for your own? or is that 7 and 8?
Any hoo, would be happy to get a good start number and bump him up half a mil TO 600k PER for EACH YEAR in that extended period.

Not saying he should go headhunting. Only in the last few weeks has Kreider started to really forecheck more effectively. However, he still doesn't go for the huge hit that can put the other team on its heels. Certain players like Lucic, Orpik, Iginla (in his prime) hit to hurt. Kreider is becoming more effective but again its been a very short time period which he has played this style. Lets see if he can continue to do that for the rest of the season. With his speed and size he can physically intimidate opposing defensmen which will buy everyone on the ice more space.

I don't think so. Just my opinion.

He was named #89 on the all time list of greatest hockey players by The hockey news. You might of heard of them.

Made 7 all star games, was MVP during one (93) -

I can go on and on just like you did but in the end its just a matter of opinion and I consider him one of the Rangers greatest goal scorers and one of the NHL's best ever goal scorers.

Fair enough. When I was watching back then I remember him being consistently very very good, but never one of the top 10 or 20 guys in the league. But I can respect that we all have different opinions. I will say that I found both him and Lafontaine incredibly exciting skaters/players to watch back then.

I don't agree that it's only been the last few weeks that he's been effective on the forecheck. I also am not particularly interested in him becoming a cheapshotting ******** like Lucic but that may be a dumb opinion

Fair enough. Not sure I agree on Lucic. Occasionally he crosses the line but alot of his hits are legal. Very hard but legal. Hate playing against him but would love to see Lucic in a Rangers uniform.

If he can just score more consistently with that wrist shot he'll put up a ton of goals. Flying down the wing with speed and picking up a pass from Stepan is enough to blow by defensemen a lot of times in this league, just needs to finish it

Hope Im wrong, but I dont think Kreider has the hands to be more than a 25-30 goal scorer.

That'd still be great, though.

But these predictions of 40+ goals, and being better than Amonte? Right now, they are ridiculous.

there are so few players that actually score 40 in a season anymore that 30 goals is still a great season, especially when u factor in the other things kreider brings. hes a punishing hitter on the forecheck and tilts the ice with his speed and puck retrieval.

Messier was on Boomer & Carton promoting the outdoor games. He spoke about Kreider:

When you see him play the way he is. You gotta have a lot of hope if you are the Rangers. That is a dynamic hockey player in a lot of areas of the game. He is just starting to feel his way through the game, learning how to be a pro, gaining the confidence and he is so aggravating to play against because he is big and strong. He is fast, he can score goals and take the body and muck it up. He is unbelievably smart kid, speaks 3 or 4 languages. He’s gonna be a good player. What is great about that is that he took the initiative to throw the gloves down to find out where he sits with all of that stuff. That had been burning for 2 or 3 games prior and the last game they played at the Garden they were going at it. He is testing himself in that regard and I really like him a lot. It’s good to see him playing.

I wasn't joking about Young(ish) Todd Bertuzzi, but faster.

I don't think CK will ever put up as many points as prime Big Bert did (or ever go full sociopath either ), but that's the closest comparison I see.

Bertuzzi has ridiculous hands. Much better than Kreider's. Kreider is faster I think.

We'll see what happens. Bertuzzi was 30 in these highlights, CK is 22. There's a lot that can happen in the next 8 years. Kreider being a consistent 30 goal scorer would be great. Most sensible original predictions had him as a 30g scorer not 40.

Kreider--somewhat bigger. Much stronger. Faster. Better in the corners and has shown more playmaking ability.

Amonte--better goal scoring instincts but played in a league when scoring goals wasn't as hard as it is now. A little more edge--mentally quicker on figuring out the NHL game.

The NHL in Amonte's prime was far more difficult for offensive players then todays NHL

98-99 when Amonte scored 44 goals he was tied for 2nd in NHL
99-00 when Amonte scored 43 goals he was 3rd in NHL

Far more difficult? No it wasn't. Average NHL team's GPG then and now:

2013-14: 2.77
2012-13: 2.74
2011-12: 2.74
2000-01: 2.76
1999-00: 2.75
1998-99: 2.64
1997-98: 2.64
1996-97: 2.92
1995-96: 3.16

If Amonte scored 44 or 43 in the last full NHL season, 2011-12, he ranks third (Gaborik finished third that season with 41). Looking at the above numbers, how was it far more difficult then than it is now?

Nice goal by CK last nite vs. Flyers!

So, as per my last post, we try to do a McDonagh and lock up long term, yes?
No dickering around w/intermediate stages.

Kreider doesn't know how good he can be. Chris leads the team in goals with 12 and is pace for 23 and 51 in 75 games. He missed the first 7 games. Kreider should have more than 12 goals. He gains a little more experience and the sky is the limit. He was quiet in the Chicago and Dallas game. Getting thrown out of the Columbus game screwed with his head. He was flying in that first period and then got tossed for the hit on Tyutin. The Rangers need another guy like him. Where do they get that player?

It would never happen, but I've wanted Charlie Coyle for a very long time.

The Rangers need to find that player before he comes the highly desired commodity. They drafted Kreider when he was a bunch of raw, untapped potential. Now he's in line for a potential Calder and is virtually untouchable. The team needs to do the leg work and find a kid who is ready to take that next big step. Boston did it with the Seguin deal. They landed a good player in Eriksson, but the real gem in that deal is Smith. 9 points in 37 NHL games before the trade and now look at him.

Find a Kreider-type of player who is the Kreider of last year, not the one we see breaking out this year.

That first period against Columbus rivals his Montreal and Vancouver games. He was ridiculous. Like on another level than any other player.

I thought he was good in chicago he had some good chances but the goalie made some nice saves. the dallas game was probably his quietest game BUT he did assist nash's goal
